I will just chime in to say that today was TITS. A little on the cold side, but the snow was great! It was also really nice to break out the new powder boards on my first day up.

^^^I agree that today was awesome! My toes were cold and goggles iced over, but it was amazing snow. The praxis loved that snow today!

A couple nice guys Dave and Alex picked my roommate and I up hitchhiking, thanks man for making the dirt bag way of life enjoyable.

Those of you who are afraid of the cold need to just sack up and go ski, it's great up there!

Hell yeah dude, nice pics. Looks like you found some of that silky leftover pow. Had some good times up there myself the last two days. Good coverage and lots of ways to make things fun.

If you're cold in town, might as well head up to the mountain anyways, its warmer up there.

I'm such a gaper, right now. I didn't do enough this summer and it hurts. I took my Nordicas out yesterday, and they wanted to go way to fast for me.
    No longer stuck.

Went out yesterday, and though it was cold as balls there was still plenty of deep to be had up the ridge. Unfortunately it'll be the last time I ski Bridger till mid-January. Have fun yall.

Does the rash of recent inbounds avalanches (around the country) affect anyone's thoughts on Partner and gear requirements?

Whatever, I'm not the only one asking questions.

I did a little bit of asking today, and it sounds like there is a mechanical glitch of some kind.

For the record, I heard a "rumor" that the word on the ski foundation board is that they're "paranoid about the new terrain".........

We can speculate all we want, but I guess we just have to be hopeful. They better spin that thing on busy pow days.....Fuck D route.

That is all the shit anyone needs to hear me talk. I'm trying to be patient. I'm trying to have faith in the fine men and women of the Bridger Bowl Ski Patrol.

Tone, I can't disagree. I am just waiting for some little jibber to get his shit rocked off of the saddle peak cliffs. The new boundary is dangerous. Slushmans was great side country, but we will see how everything works out once the new lift is actually running.

Well, it's official. I just got the second chair on Sclashmans. And what was better then that? The pow. Nice and deep. So stoked on the terrain. The ravine was pretty sick, with Mundys being wind-blown up top but some deep shit lower down.

That terrain is a pretty insane place for a lift. Leaving the parking lot we saw an ambulance coming in. That was quick

Opening delayed until 10 AM tomorrow due to predicted scrotum-shriveling temperatures.

The first is the top of Hidden, and the second is looking into NW Passage. We need more snow before NW Passage will go down.

Today was awesome. There are some uhhh....intimidating straightlines to be done on Slushman's, and I'm already claiming one of them. There were also a ton of people up that probably shouldn't have been there (older women hiking to no name with 150 carvers and no gear). But yeah, new lift=tits.

So there is no required avalanche gear/partner? Is it just recommended?

You're required to be beeping. Shovel, probe, and partner are optional. Those rules are the same for all the "ridge terrain" whether it is Slushman's, the fingers, or hiking the ridge proper. The partner rule was dropped this year because people were skiing "with a partner" in ways that were worthless in a rescue sitation anyways. Shovel isn't required any more because most people hiking the ridge were poorly equipped to perform a rescue, at best. The beacon requirement has been retained to make search and retrieval possible for patrol.

Slushman's is gonna be managed just like the ridge and the fingers. No difference. Beep on, no signage, nothing marked, no grooming. And, for better or worse, that includes limited hours for patrol to do avy control and sweep.

Also, useful to note: the Slushman's lift only handles 500 people per hour, as specified in the EIS for the terrain expansion. PK does 1200 people per hour. That is 2-3x more skiers than Slushman's. If everyone immediately goes PK => Slushman's tomorrow (weekend powder day), we could have half the skiers on the hill "stuck" over there and waiting in line while Deer Park, Bridger, and Alpine go untouched. The upshot to this is that Slushman's will not get tracked out as quickly.

I hope that makes things clear on what the new policies are and what the logistics of the new lift are.

Does that include the people traversing across and butchering McRib to get to the low angle trees on the other side of Mundy's?

Seems pretty lame to kill half the vert of the new lift by traversing across some of the best terrain when all you have to do is hike 80 verticle feet to drop in from the top.

I know that probably no one here is doing that, but man that was dissapointing to see.
