you'll be fine. but don't go out there expecting to catch anything- big waves are super hard to paddle into. it'll just be an insane work out, and will make you that more aggressive the next time there's a solid swell.

Hmmm...I am way down in So Cal and the Thursday-Saturday surf report isn't much more than 6 ft at this point, so I am thinking head high, maybe a little more, but they are saying the shape may suck due to the close proximity of the NW wind swell. To bad, as it looks like there was a solid south coming our way at the same time. If the wind swell doesn't junk it out to much, could be a nice combo swell for Friday.
Never in U.S. history has the public chosen leadership this malevolent. The moral clarity of their decision is crystalline, particularly knowing how Trump will regard his slim margin as a “mandate” to do his worst. We’ve learned something about America that we didn’t know, or perhaps didn’t believe, and it’ll forever color our individual judgments of who and what we are.

OR and WA are forecat for 23ft at 13 seconds on Saturday. I think I'll go see if it's working in the Strait. It's probably perfect conditions for that actually and i would likely kill myself in that big a swell...

You'll be fine. If you want something a bit tamer, just drive down into SC. Town won't be big at all. Some of the reefs near town could be great even.

And let the charts play out a few days. I hope we get a 12@15, and the storms look solid, but it is not even forming until Thursday. OTOH, good warm up W swell for Thurs evening into Saturday. If the winds stay calm, I may hit OB Saturday around noon.

No, but depending on how junky it is, may be a bit of a wash out there. I;'ve surfed OB a few times pushing triple over head. I've seen it much bigger, looking very good and very lonely. Once my buddies and I drove back and forth up and down the beach looking for a way out. None, so off to Rockaway.

EDIT: Bouy 59 showing about 8@11 right now. Guessing we will have a 5.5@13 by Thursday morning. Calm winds until Friday when the bigger storm hits us and brings about 12 hours of 20 kt S winds. Then calm again until Monday. Could be interesting the next few days.

Same down this way. Much better than anticipated. Tomorrow morning looks like a little bump in the W, with a touch more N in it. October can be such a good month.

Charts backed off a bit this morning, but OTOH, there is a swell maker charted in the Gulf of some sort over the next two weeks. Could be too good to be true.

Look at the weather forecast too.

Look for a system to roll in with the swell on Friday night into Saturday.

That is the third time I heard Saturday. I should stop telling people this, but...

This storm is coming at us faster than the swell. It is hurling. Storm should hit the north coast Friday night, but the swell from that one will hit on Sunday.

Of course you could be talking about the South swell, but up here that thing is going to get buried when we get Sunday's WNW.

Saturday should still be fun once the S winds calm down from the storm running over us.

OTOH, with this fresh rain, should see a lot of driving mishaps in the Bay Area. Floks around here always forget how the road leeches all the oil from summer out when we get that first rain. Slip and slide.

    HAHA, KOOOOOK!!!

Just kidding. I couldn't make it out a couple times last year and it was barely over head high. Course it was gnarly wind chop @ like 5 seconds.

Much easier now that I have a smaller board and can duck-dive it.

    Get after it, Gonz!

OB can be amazingly stubborn about letting you out. It does not always take much swell.

Down a little south it was looking good. Some reefs between SF and SC were going off. A bit overhead, but some thump.

Evidence is weak, and cell phone blurry, but what the hell

Some dudes getting there. Wish I had my camera with me. There were a few worthy one. Best set that came through while I was on the cliff changing - no one even touched.

Amen. I thought I was going to have to do the paddle of shame last weekend but managed to eek out through a lull.

gnarly wind chop is an oxymoron.

Swell has shown up down here. About head high at Rincon during my lunch break. Left all my gear at home this morning so just went in for a swim. Surf was not looking all that great w/ a bit of bump and the usual zoo.

Fun morning at Swamis. Just me and 20 of my buddies out
Really nice shape, but a little inconsistent on the sets. Mostly shoulder high with a few head high sets. High tide really slowed it down so I will be out there at 6am Friday. I need to get my fix in before the mentioned storm hits Saturday.

Thanks for the info late yesterday. I didnt it would show up until today. I went by my neighborhood surf spot, and it was indeed overhead.

This morning was not so good. Wind-blown chop.

'Con, Sands, or the Supermodels afternoon spot for me this evening. I'm probably gonna find an empty peak at beach break rather than jockey.
