Well, dragged out all my AR junk for pics, and decided to build an AR pistol from one of the stripped receivers. Have the trigger and hammer installed, ordered a buffer tube, and ready to go. As a pistol, I can use my .223 11.5" upper, 9mm 10.5" upper and .22 upper on it. Will post pics.

Finally got my AR-15 Pistol project pics uploaded. Not one of the most practical things I have ever seen, but it would make a good grizz gun in .223.

Started with a virgin receiver and a lower parts kit with pistol buffer tube.

Two nights putting in the parts and pieces yielded this.

Added the mag block and a 9mm upper receiver to get this.

    In .223

My other big "black" pistol. HK SP89 I can add my MG sear, full auto bolt carrier, a front pistol grip, and rear stock to get an HK MP5K

Probably just me, but I would be very careful about posting comments about moving MG sears to various weapons on a website. YRMV...

Dunno, with steel core penetrator's might be just fine. Figure if they will shoot through a car, they should penetrate a bear. Or you could put a .458 Socom upper on it with heavy loads. Or a .50 Beawouf and 600 grain loads.

I've heard the Inuit's favorite gun for polar bear defense is the mini 14. They just open up and empty the mag, and supposedly its been working just fine for them. .223 rounds tend to fragment, but if designed to do so, they will stay together and penetrate pretty well.

Oh, and TnKen has way too many toys.

Thanks. I should have asked questions, but didn't want to due to concern that you might be talking about a DIAS that was not properly registered. No need to get in a jam over something posted on the web. Apologies.

Looking at purchasing a new rifle over the winter. Thinking about either a CETME/G3/HK91 variation, another AK clone or an M4 variation. Thoughts? Just used for target shooting...

and will be stored at the parents house in MT, like all my guns

Depends on what you want to do with it.

Hard to beat versatility of an AR-15 platform. Tons of stuff out there to trick them out at relatively inexpensive prices.

If you are looking at a HK-91 clone, I would probably recommend the PTR-91 rifles www.ptr91.com Seem to be the best option out there now.

.308 ammo is through the roof, but so is .223.

the upward trend of prices for both rifles worries me a bit. In MT i can still get relatively cheap 7.62 x 39 ammo

For those that know more than I.... anyone have any experience with the Bushy Carbon 15? I was toying with making a lightweight SBR and wanted to go with the Carbon 15 upper and lower. From the sounds of it, you use one, you have to use the other... but can you even buy them alone, or must you buy a complete weapon? I was then thinkin about going with a Noveske 10.5" bbl, just a lightweight KISS gun. Thoughts???

I'll be buying this-coming Fri or Sat.

EDIT: I don't anticipate going over 600-700 yards for now and It will probably be a while before I become proficient at that range.
What are you going to do with it? Hunt, target shoot, 3 gun match, ???

Handle both, but you'll probably like the 18" better. Don't know that it will make that much difference in accuracy under 300 yards.

Had a standard M-14 for a while, it always seemed front end heavy. I suspect that would be even more noticable with the composite light stock.

IF you are going to get into serious target shooting, get the 20" & composit stock. Wooden stocks, of course, move with the humidity.

You can always get the composite and pick up a wooden stock later. THis guy has tons, I've gotten a couple from him. Tons of other parts too.

I thought the same thing: after all that firepower, I was relieved to see you had the multi-tool base covered...
