    SoCal South coming in

I'm headed out to the Ranch sat and sun. Hopefully I can pull a decent TR together.

Any sign of that swell down there? I might be headed down that way mid week if the winds come up here. Definitely report upon your return.

Do you boat or hike in?

I take the most direct route...the front gate.

South is showing in SB already, I'll report tomorrow if I make it home, I might just stay out there.

A south in SB? Lemme guess. Reports from SB surfers that the Ranch is showing signs of swell.

No trip report from this weekend. We went down to Ventura on Saturday morning at about 9 only to find a million people fighting for the windswell with no signs of the South. Went out to the Ranch today, the only thing big about today was the crowds. South showed 2-4 ft...nothing great.

The surf was so good at Ventura Overhead and Oxnard Shores that I drove back to Santa Barbara and went mountain biking.

    I'm through chasing south swells.

Where are you seeing head high? Took a walk down at Rincon on my lunch break and it was looking pretty meager. Meager enough that there were a bunch of kids playing in the surf in kayaks.

I thought Rincon was in a S swell shadow from the islands. I though all of SB was.

Found some decent surf yesterday and today up in SC. You really had to wait for them today, but every once in a while a solid shoulder plus set would come through. Or maybe it was a one wave set. No completely sure.

Missed a few, caught a few smaller not so good waves, caught two really good waves that made the session.

Looks like next mini round of surf is coming Thursday and Saturday. Got to play with what little is out there.

You're right, the channel islands block the S swells from getting to SB, but, what was getting through yesterday was the SE swell from the hurricane. They sneak past the islands and make it to SB. There was about a 2-3 hour window when they were hitting yesterday. By the time I made it home from work they were gone.

It must of been a pretty quick window. On my way to LAX yesterday I drove by countyline and it looked absolutely great....on my way home a couple of hours later there was nothing at all.

btw Tark, when you're in town, there's a cold beer in my fridge with your name on it..stop by sometime.
