i would love to drive up tomorrow, but i have to pretty much be out of the parking lot by noon to assure i make it back to work on time (2pm). if anyone wants to ride up with me and catch a ride back early (or later with someone else) that would be sweet.

also wouldn't mind a comp ticket but today was payday so no biggie if not.

Meh. Some of you guys will say it was the shit when it was shit. IMHO the worst powder day of the year. Highly variable and poor visibility. I kept thinking it was perfect conditions to blow a knee: powder turn to powder turn to icy mogul or icy mogul to icy mogul to deep drift.

    I agree. Total suckage.

Tomorrow's gonna be shit, or the shit, depending on how you look at things.

Hopefully I'll be there Sunday, depending on whether or not I find some used demo bindings I can afford at the shop.

    Ridge- thrashed? Open? Crusted over?

Essentially is it worth going up tomorrow as opposed to missing an important period of study time?

If I go, it better be good.

in the morning it will be super hard refrozen crud, but it should be fun in the afternoon.

this morning ruled, creamy snow all over the ridge, went for hike up to marmot/rock chutes. It was all around fun. Around 1:30 things were getting pretty heavy

Fine, let me reiterate - you didn't look hard enough.
If you're hitting icy moguls on a pow day... maybe you should try skiing in areas that don't have refrozen moguls underneath? Just a thought.

Well, I skied thigh to waist deep snow without hitting icy moguls, so maybe you should tag along and think about the wind a little harder.

Yeah you're right - one of the best days of the year yesterday, without question.

And I cant wait to get all your guiding services cause the 20+ yrs I've been skiing at Loveland I guess I've never figured it out.

Well the expertise rules out the lack of effort in searching... Fatter skis, maybe?

(Based on the amount of fun I had today, I have a hard time believing yesterday was really that rough. That said, I didn't ski chair 1 bumps at all today...)

Dont get me wrong I found some good snow - faceshots and drifts of deep, but overall I was underwhelmed, as that was usually followed by hitting hardpack soon thereafter. I dont like that combo of high variability and low visibility. I guess I'm just spoiled.

I bet today was 1000X better with chair 9 open and visibility.

Well, I'd go maybe 897x, but not quite 1000x.

I agree that deep pow mixed with icy moguls or hard coral underneath sucks. If I'm hitting something hard underneath continually, that ain't a pow day in my lexicon.

Yesterday on the other hand was sweet & creamy frosting;it was soft enough to spin.
