totally agree. A ski with sidecut, 0 camber and rocker in tip will be the ski I ski inbounds most of the time next year with the Praxis for big days and bc.

I'd get either the praxis or brocker for pow and a traditional ski for harder snow. While the brocker is fairly manageable on hard snow, it will never kill groomers and manky bumps like a m103 or squad or bro188.

My buddy claims to have bought the ARG's for the flat section under the foot. He claims that when he is hucking it gives him a flatter platform for landings, where the continuous rocker was sending him over the handlebars because the ski can jet out from under him. I have never found this, but must admit going over the handlebars a few times, but I can't blame it entirely on the skis.

After just one pow day on my Sallie Rockers, I have a new appreciation for a ski with only a rockered tip and normal camber/sidecut throughout the rest of the ski. They plane so well once you get them up to speed, that it makes me wonder if the length and width of the ski matter as much (at least for how and where I ski). I'm almost more curious about the BD Megawatt, K2 Obseth'd and Sallie Czar versus some of the others due to my recent experience.

Since the girth of a ski like the Rocker adds so much weight, I'm of the opinion that I want some help keeping the tips from diving and don't want to have to ride my heels to make that happen, but don't necessarily need other parts of the ski tweaked. Tip rocker seems to solve that problem for me, but I'd like to see it on a 105 to 110-ish waisted ski since those would still have plenty of float, yet could remain more nimble/playful and more all-mtn oriented than the 127-mm waisted porker that is the Sallie Rocker.

How did the weight of the skis feel after a few runs (or by the end of the day)?

I demo'd them yesterday, but only 1 run -- legs were cramping after nonstop lapping for 3.5 hrs earlier in the day, and had to call it quits. All I could really tell from my 1 lame run was that the skis were really heavy...

Personally didn't notice the weight while skiing.

In fact, I have never felt fresher at the end of a day than the first day I had mine out.

I totally agree with you - check out my review of the Czar. That is exactly why i loved it - it was wide enough at 111 underfoot + the rocker to float well but with regular sidecut and camber it still was super nimble and stable on the hard stuff. This or the Praxis PX or Big Mountain will be my new ski for next year.

I'm a big fan of tip+tail rocker. My bet is that over the next couple of years we start to see more skis engineered where the rocker or reverse camber combines with sidecut to define the basic turn shape. I don't see any reason a ski with no conventional camber has to sacrifice anything in terms of handling/stability/grip.

This year I've gotten very fond of skis that engage from the middle as you bring them on edge and then release back to the middle. And, subjectively speaking, skis like the Kuro and Hell Bent seem to go edge to edge much more easily than a ski of similar width with camber where you need to fight the camber to reshape the ski as it goes edge to edge. Makes my gaper self feel much more in control.

I'm a big fan of the Praxis too, but that's a different discussion than sidecut skis...

FYI - Brocker proto 186 Bro Proto Rockers, 140-112-120 ~35m avg radius

For me, I really like the Praxis MTN Freeride (with Tip Rocker)
    187 cm 127 - 102 - 120 Radius (m) 30

I love the Lotus 120 sooo much, but the waist is really too wide for EC firm bumps.

I think a Lotus 120 200cm and a Praxis MTN Freeride Rocker 187cm would be a sick quiver.

i believe the tail rocker is going to be the same as the tip. it features a soft flex in tip and tail, and stiff underfoot. also, the dimensions are 135-140-130.

Anyone know about the 09 Big Daddy ? I have a 2009 Atomic Ski spec sheet that says the Big Daddy has B4 Rocker technology - so I am assuming that means tip or tip & tail rocker ?? Can anyone confirm ??

So, Faction owes me a pair of skis in the fall. I've never skied anything with any tip/tail rocker (other than a bent VOlant :P).

What I should get? Rockered tip and tail 185 Royale, or early rise tip Thirteen? How much differently are they gonna ski?

    Or should I just get a a 3.Zero?

I skied on these last month. Tip rocker only, flat tail. I didn't get a chance to try them in powder, it was mostly spring corn, but they were pretty responsive and stable. Kind of like Solly Rocker, but stiffer...

quite a nice list. I want the Donner Party just for the name. Did you notice you forgot the lotus 138? c'mon! that's the mack daddy! How about Mantra's after 4 days, or Enforcers after a big mogul?
Oh and the Big Daddy is rockered for 08/09
and I believe the Hellbent has camber under foot. And you left out the pontoon, which also has a slight bit of camber under foot. I believe the ARG does, too.
