I like a lot about the Element, but the deciding factor that's pushing me away is ground clearance. The Element doesn't have it, the Taco does. Can you lift 'em?
Meh, Honda and Toyota seem to be more or less equivalent here.Plus, you get Honda reliability, which is off the chains.
I skied in-bounds pow at night in several feet of fresh getting rides in Phishes TRD.....it's got stock lockers, which make all the difference.
Element vs. Taco
=
Lesbaru vs. something much cooler and better.
Liz, Dan being "theman" wants a Taco, not a gay Element.
You can throw a bed in the back.

No bullshit, my wife and I actually saw a lifted Element on 395 outside of Reno a couple of weeks ago. I'm sure it's not the nest thing to do to it and voids any and all warranties but it actually looked pretty cool.
I was recently struggling with this decision; utilitarian vehicle with good gas mileage or truck. I went with the truck because my commute is a mile or two per day and I ride my bike during the summer. Wife has a Legacy Outback and the truck would be great for skiing, camping, climbing, biking, etc. The gas sucks but I don't regret it at all.
I REALLY wanted an extended-cab Taco, but with the possibility of kids in the next couple/few years that truck was just too impractical and I didn't want to go have to buy a new truck soon. The D-cab taco was an option but I was leary of short bed and the prices were just too high unless I went super high mileage and that didn't make sense to me. I ended up buying a Titan, threw a LEER shell on it and love it.
Good luck, tough decision. If you're planning on having kids and get the TACO then you'd better be planning on starting another "What car should I buy?" thread in a couple of years.
hold out for this:

Jesus Christ....I've never seen a bigger collection of flaming homosexuals gathered in one place.... Element...., Taco,.... Subie...., GODDAM IT!!!
Get one of these bad devils!!!
Oh... and put a cap on it.

"Shit, I'll choke her while she's cleaning, and I'll do it wearing a helmet cam mounted on a full-face helmet.
I'll have meatdrink9 do the lighting for the shot. He'll make it artsy as fuck." - Phunk
Ford sucks. You can stroke it, I'll be cummin(s).
This from the guy who wasn't even aware of what 4 low is?
Call bullshit all you want but there's a whole world of weekday bomber storms last month you have no clue about. And I was making first tracks out of my neighborhood every day to get out
edit: you really never have looked at my tires have you?

Am I the only one pretty sure that this photo shows some poor Element owner getting ripped off?
So, we agree that a Tacoma is the way to go at this point, even though I like the function of the Element (not matter how ugly it is, I still like it).
We won't be having "lil rippers" around for a couple years and by the time that happens, our WRX will have a lot of miles on it, which means we'll need a new car at that point anyway. So, he gets the Tacoma now, I'll get an Element or something like that later.
Seems like a good decision to me!
you sketchy character, you
What is this "gear lower than first" of which you speak?
2 feet on flats no problem. 2 feet uphill? Not a chance, 4-low or otherwise, without chains or snow tires. Maaaaybe with lockers and good, siped all-seasons.
edit:
Last year you had siped all-seasons and complained that they sucked.
If you say so
Now you're smoking something. I haven't owned all season tires in 5-6 years. What I was bitching about was balding tires that were once badass siped, wall climbing crampons in convenient circular format.
Since it's snowing again, you'll be up here this weekend. If you're lucky I'll pull your truck out of the parking spot if we get some feets. You may then see my secret
Seriously, you would have been impressed with what that truck was making it through a couple of weeks ago. Kings beach doesn't usually get plowed until the day AFTER a storm.
Anyway......Tacoma.......WOOT!!

I was thinking element for cost, reliability, etc...but I didn't fit (don't fit into a Taco either).
Now I have a full-size truck and it was more expensive, higher gas costs, more everything (have you seen the price of truck nuts these days?) But I'm super happy with it; I can sleep in it in the winter, it destroys shitty roads, and I can shuttle 6 DH bikes in the back and seat six in the cab. If I get sleds or dirt bikes, I can haul or tow them easily; if I want a camper, I can get one as well and won't be limited by my wheels.
Summary: I'm super happy with it and I'll drive it 'til it dies or I need a new one.
Got a element "05" gets 20 to 25 mpg.
Easy to clean "all plastic interior"
Fits 3 mt bikes.
2 large doges "70 and 90 lbs".
7 prs of skis on floor "longest are 174".
2 Back seats come out pretty easy or just fold up against side rear windows.
20 to 25 mpg's are the killer for a 4 cylinder honda
I put forth this question and the question is,
When i did your mother twice last nite did I get sloppy seconds ?????
Quad cab, long bed, that's what I'd buy,.
BobMc
Yeah, but you may as well buy a bigass diesel at that point.
I've had my Taco for a year and I fucking love it. Get the double cab long bed and you won't regret it. Elements are fugly.
