    SoWisc/IL mags--wanna go skiing?

so I moved back to Chicago recently after going to school in UT (foolish) but I, like you, must make do with what I have. Problem is I'm now 23 and none of my Chi-town friends really ski anymore--they're more into boozing away their sorrows. Me, I'm more into boozing after some skiing. So if anyone is going to southern wisc/alpine/any local hill let me know, because I'm seriously freaking out already--I have to get on snow and I don't care where it is!!

PM Red Baron. I think he has similar problems. I'm over at Chestnut quite a bit. When I make it over I lap Warpath or Apache, wear Scarpa boots Tele or Alpine. Its pretty easy to spot me amongst the gapers.

Heh. I'm back in the burbs for the holidays. I debated bringing my skis and hitting up Wilmot for nostalgia factor, but decided against it.

I live in southern WI and I'm sort of in the same boat. Myself being 28, I have a decent job with good pay and can make the trips out west, etc. My friends, always complain of never having enough money to go skiing (but yet they always have enough to go drinking on the weekends). Plus most of my skiing buddies now live up near Green Bay. We still make the trips up to Bohemia once in awhile over a weekend.

I have never been to Alpine Valley, have you? How is it? Its actually pretty close to my house. Usually I just hit up Cascade or Tyrol ($12 Tuesdays).

I haven't been on my skis yet this year and have really been itching to get out there. I think I may go on Monday as I will have all family X-mas stuff done already.

And I'm still trying to plan a solo trip (friends have no money) out to Jackson in Jan. Just waiting to see if ticket prices go down at all.

Let me know if you ever want to hook up to ride.

Same here, in the NW burbs, Arlington Heights.
Looking for a quick hit to get some boot issues figured out prior to Jan camp in Utahr.
Probably will go to Wilmot, Alpine Valley.
    May go Sunday am...

In the past, I prefer to go to Chestnut/Cascade to get at least "some" vertical

PM me if anyone wants to go.

Was at Alpine Tuesday. Usually icy spots on their 'big' run, bring your park skis. Not bad for what it is, the high speed maks laps easier on their main run.

Change of plans- I'll be at Wilmot Christmas day early.
Heading back to NW burbs early afternoon.

    Silver Boeri Helmet
    Red/black TNF Jacket
    10.ex's

Look for guy fiddling with his boots.

Stompin - I don't know any places for bootfitting in WI.
I'm having mine done in Chicago.

for boots try viking ski shop in the city or vertical drop in st charles if your out that way. Just moved from the Chi, the skiing is tough, had to learn handrails to keep from going crazy. There are a few tiny bumps around in the burbs but they require lots of mind altering substances for enjoyment. There is a little bump in Algonquin that puts together a decent park/pipe if your into that

If anyone is up for Grand Geneva, I can get you in for half price, and am allways looking to meet new people. Plus I'm there almost every day. PM me. Also haven't been to Wilmot or Alpine this year, so if you're thinking about heading there shoot me one.

    tomorrow

Since they are calling for 7-10" is anyone going out tomorrow? I was thinking of just going to Cascade or Tyrol, but actually might go to Alpine since its more south and might get more snow. Let me know if anyone will be out.

Has anyone been to Alpine lately? I'm told the park is shit, so its out in that case for me. If school is out tommorow I may be tempted to go to Alpine though. I'll prolly just wind up at Grand. Who's up? I think I can get you in for half price.

the park at alpine wasn't great last week (never really is great), but they were building their jump line which is typically a 3 or 4 tables in a row, quite a few rails. it's decent but not worth much of a drive

90% sure I'll be at Alpine tomorrow, I already told the boss I wouldn't be in. I'll be on some Seth Pistols.

It sucked. Wow. So disapointing. It was like trying to ski through mud.

I'll most likely get over to Tyrol tomorrow morning for a couple of hours. Look for some jerky skiing on LPs or CMH 'sploders, ask for change.
