mags skiing in the chugache for christmas

I'll be in Palmer, Wasilla, Anchorage, and Girdwood for the entire holiday celebration of Christmas and New Years. (tentative Dec. 23rd - Jan. 10th)

AK mags this call goes out you. Will you be in town then?
Info. on Girdwood skiing for that time of year would be appreciated..

I have been to Valdez and skied various road runs, small tours, to heli-lifted runs, etc.

My wife is from Palmer but her family doesn't place much priority on skiing although her mom kicks ass, and has been an ex-racer/bum in Utah.

It would be good to get to know some mags in Girdwood, or surrounding area.

    If you are into backcountry:
I pretty much grew up skiing backcountry in Turnagain Pass. It's another 20 mins down the highway from Girdwood, but it's well worth it. You will know where to go because it will be all of the parking lots to the left of the highway.

There really isn't any backcountry around Girdwood, unless you get in with Chugach Power Guides and go heli- or snowcat-skiing. I did the latter last year and much was had, even though I carnaged a Fritschi binding.

There is decent backcountry around Anchorage, up around Flattop. The parking lot is called Glen Alps. If the snow is good, like right after a dumping, then it will be good. Otherwise, it's not great. The area is called Powerline Pass. The skiing will be on the east wall of the pass.

One place I just started skiing last winter is the side of the pass facing the ocean. It's kind of hard to find, but the skiing was great into May.

If you want further instructions, PM me.

When you're feeling down, just remember: It's always darkest before it goes pitch .... fucking.... black.

I may or may not be there due to snow conditions....

ie: if it snows more here, than I will be here.

    No wait.

    Stop.

    Flip that.

    Reverse it.
