    Solution:

Find a Swiss girl. My fiancee is Swiss, and her father is a lead ski instructor at a resort in Switzerland. No problem. She doesn't huck per se, but throughly enjoys skiing and is awesome to take out.

She sleeps in on first chair days and meets up with me later too.

I still need to keep my mouth shut about things like keeping hands forward and stuff. She can ski everything now and catches herself when she forgets something, so it gets easier every trip.

Good tip Tippster . . . female instructors understand the "mind" trips some of the ladies go through learning this sport . . . highly recommend a group or private lesson with a female . . . protects from other potential problems previously mentioned

    Oh, and go ahead and 'jong' away . . . been there . . . just need a re-new . . .

Have you asked her what she'd prefer, explaining your expectations and what she wants out of skiing? Because I just got my fiance a randonee setup, and after a few outings in the BC, she's not that partial to BC skiing, anymore. Since then, we've spoken about what we like about skiing and what we want to do. To make a long story short, she explained that she'd rather learn how to ski powder on a resort before having to earn her turns. To me, this is a bummer... but very reasonable. COMMUNICATION!

Let me guess Franz. It's the lady they used to call winghead at school, aka the lovely Gratia.

Not to beat a dead horse,

but if she ice skates and is athletic, a group lesson may be somewhat frustrating. See if you can pony up for a two hour or 1/2 day private (you are also likely to get a better instructor) and meet up with after - with 1 on 1 instruction she should progress faster and your afternoon should be more enjoyable.

Other than that I echo the general sentiments of those who have preceded me.

I would say just teach her. She seems athletic - she'll pick it up fine and you'll enjoy the experience. My GF bascially taught me to ski and I taught her to row...that worked fine and we're still together.
please don't listen to ^^^this advice. This situation sounds different, learning to ski from a gf if different than teaching the gf, for starters.

The GM at the ec resort I've worked at handed me a three day voucher for all day privates a couple of seasons ago when I mentioned I was going to teach her myself. He told me then and there that our relationship would be doomed if I tried to take her out myself. Long story short, she got three days worth of lessons, I pro-formed some atomics for her, and she skis at a strong intermediate after two seasons, totalling 20-25 days on snow and I've never had to spend much time teaching her myself. She asks me here and there for little tips, but even that is infrequent.

If money is not a huge concern, go for some lessons, and encourage her to spend full days on skis... to increase her comfort and confidence. Even better than that, get her a buddy. One of your bro's gf's or wives to spend some time learning with her, that's the shit. This one's good too, because she's got the whole day with company, and you get to rip, if you rip, I'm not sure how well you ski.

That's it, pm me if you have any particular questions, I've gone through this issue inside and out,
Time again for slaughter of pow, bumps, and EC ice.

    Days in powder = 0

Toss her to the curb and find a chick that already rips. If she isn't dropping cornices, nailing perfect turns over 80 feet of exposure and straighlining shit on the first date then mmove along and find one that does.

I didn't read all the posts but someone must have given this advice already.

Same here. GF currently teaching me to ski and there are no issues. It depends on how you relate to each other and what end of the responsibility she accepts. The more she takes on, the better. But a paid instructor lesson on day one would be a great start.

learn to ride switch while teaching her

You will remember how awkward and fast it is when you first start skiing. Stop for lunch, Apres at 2pm or 3pm. Tell her she is awesome and that you are having fun.

To reiterate: Under no circumstances should you instruct her. It will destroy your relationship. It doesn't matter how good of an instructor you are, how patient you are, etc. Don't do it.

Actually, one of the problems I now have is that everything comes to me intuitively and often I can't pinpoint what exactly people are doing wrong. So, in some sense a book would help me.
You shall buy The Mighty RaccoonFace a ticket and he will teach her everything, and ensure that she gets a minimum of 1000 m of vert... and horizontal, and switch for that matter 2 HUDGE inches at a time!

The Mighty RaccoonFace recommends that you read a National Geographic and leave the "teaching" to him!

the Mighty RaccoonFace can fuck off. Franz Klammer's gf is klar's future client. Franz Klammer will come to the homeland and will sort out housing for klar in the Klammer family's private spa. klar may then agree to teach his gf in between relaxing beauty treatments.

the Mighty RaccoonFace does not want to mess with klar!

THE MIGHTY RACCOONFACE HAS CALLED DIBS! Therefore The Mighty RaccoonFace is laying claim to the gf of one Franz Klammer as his own!

In accordance with the prophecy Klar is now invited to suck The Mighty RaccoonFace's left nut while making the right one mighty jealous.

just take her on a date. Love her up. Give her a romantic day in the snow with skis. don't pawn her off on some instructor so she can learn to ski. (I used to teach and I'm familiar with the BS genre of "don't teach a S/O."

To that S/O, the trip may have nothing to do with skiing but everything to do with just enjoying the snow with his or her S/O.

Many of us skiers fall off the dark-end into the abyss of believeing that skiing is actually as important them as it is to us. That's strange. Quite frankly, your girlfriend could probably give a rat's ass if she went skiing one day this year. So- why turn that one day (or hopefully more) into some uncomfortable "I can't teach you" mantra followed by some weak boyfriend running away to the "fun" terrain.

lame. If I were a girl, and with you, I'd dump you for sucking at sharing time together.

    (But I'm married.)
