Denver Dog Boarding

Going home for Thanksgiving and don't know where to put the pooch. Anybody have recommendations for a trusted, safe, temporary home for my dog?
Willing to pay $20-30/day for 5 days.

Have you checked into a pet sitter?

We had to leave our dogs behind last Thanksgiving. We opted for a dog sitter. She visited twice a day, each visit was around an hour and a half, and she took them on walks, too. We liked the idea of our doggies safe at home, guarding it in our absence. Plus, familiar surroundings, toys, and bedding kept them more calm than a kennel that might expose them to other stressed, possibly sick dogs. Also, she fed the fish, turned lights on and off, checked the mail, brought in the paper, etc. and she gave us daily phone calls for reassurance. She was a bargain at $40 a day.

I've heard good things about Cottonwood Kennels in Boulder, but it's spendy. I've driven by Pet Camp just outside of Golden on HWY 93 about a million times. It appears they have separate dog-runs and good fencing, but no grass- looks pretty bare. Maybe some others will chime in with better options for Denver.

Good luck finding a place this late...

But check out A Lovin' Touch in Erie, just off I-25 north of Denver. They're great- they have a couple acres and let the dogs run around all day. I'm guessing a lot of places will be full though. Camp Bow Wow isn't bad either- lots of those locations. Cottonwood Kennels, like Jax mentioned, is a good place- but I guarantee they're booked, and probably were a few months ago. If you need more rec's, shoot me a PM, I've been there before and I'm pretty familiar with spots (in the Boulder area, at least).

thanks for responses guys. it sux cause it is on short notice, almost all of them were booked and it makes me curious about the rest. pet sitter sounds like a good idea but $40/day is too expen$ive for this ski bum.
going to random place i found off the internet to check it out tomorrow. lets hope michael vick isn't running the place.

When my vet closed up their boarding operation, I tried out Tenaker, they're in Highlands Ranch and by DIA I think. Anyway it was $25/day including food. They have a bunch of kennels in a big room, it was loud so if your dog is skidish I’d try out the sitter option.

We have two dogs, hence the $40 per day. It will be less for one dog. Make some phone calls- perhaps there will be some cancellations. Also try Pet Sitters of America. Good luck!

Up in the Boulder area you're lucky to find anything for less than $30-35 per dog per night. We've got two, so its always fun when we go out of town.

I currently have no job and live in Boulder and love dogs. Would be willing to give you a hand for the holidays, all I got to do is ride my bike or ski if we get any snow. Holla if you think we could work something out. Don't really need any money, but beer is always appreciated.

There is one over east of montview and quebec (just south of stapleton). I forget the name but I picked up a friend of mine's dogs there last week and they seemed happy. I don't know how much it costs either. I guess I'm not much help....

I have been wanting to get my pup a little doggy daycare, just to make his life a little better, and it's ridiculous how much they charge just for day time stuff.

If I can find a good midday dogwalker, I may do that.

Have a teenage neighbor you trust? Have him/her come by to feed the dog, walk it, etc.

That's what we do when we go out of town. Our dogs stay outside year-round though, except when overnight temps drop below 20 (then they are put in the garage overnight).

That's what I do too. We go skiing for the day and our next door neighbor (she's 11) comes over a few times and plays with the dogs. Keeps me happy and she loves it.
