This has been a VERY BAD week in Philly.

3 people shot in center city, one of whom died. This was on Monday.

It is Thursday and so far 3 police officers have been shot in separate incidents. One of the officers died this morning after being shot in the head yesterday. All shooters are still armed and still roaming the streets. (update...one shooter jumped off a bridge to avoid capture and was found floating the next day. One down two to go)

The mayor is blaming gun manufactures. It's not politically correct to actually blame the shooters. There has to be a reason why these good folks are turning to violence as their form of expression.

I just meant PA doesn't honor my state's CCW.

And the poor officer Cassidy, of all the places to be murdered - just walking into a donut shop.

    Yeah, irony.

In other news, The murderer of a friend of mine, Officer Gary Skerski (shot to death last year) was allowed to plead guilty to the crime there by avoiding the death penalty.
I can't take the DA to task on this as Gary's wife was ok with the plea and didn't want to re-live this in court.

Yea...he jumped in the river right behind my apartment.

The mayor sucks. He doesn't do anything. He just keeps blaming other people for the problems. He takes no stance and doesn't change a single policy to combat this.
    I hate him.

The mayor is not the problem. He is the result of the majority voting "their own" into power.

And Nutter? He is going to be a nutter useless clown kissing the asses of the voting majority.

The toilet bowl is full. Someone needs to flush.

That means the black majority voted race not competency and got what they asked for. John Street has been a career political criminal starting with his time in the gas commission. Nutter is a nobody who would get nowhere anywhere else but will be the new Mayor because he is (a) Democrat, (b) Black.

And, Philadelphia is a toilet. It is full of the worst political scum on earth sucking the very life out of what was once a terrific place to live. It has been raped and pillaged since the days of Mayor Tate by the Democrat Party.

The toilet bowl is full but will never be flushed, not in my lifetime.

I actually like Nutter, having seen him speak at several city council meetings (early proponent of the city smoking ban, here). Don't know whose hand he's eating out of but if he's not too beholden to the wrong people I think he'll do well.

Move I did. Driven out by crime and taxes. I must still cross the demographic lines into Hell at least 3 times a week for work reasons. In early, out early. After 9am, all bets are off.

Two weeks ago, At Broad and Erie, one of the locals runs up to the passenger side of my car and starts yanking on the door handle. I dropped the car in gear and jumped forward about 5 feet and almost removed his hand from his wrist. Of course there were no cops to be found.

Two hours later, I am crossing an intersection on Passyunk Ave. Just as I enter the intersection, the light turns yellow. I was 90% through when it turned red. Following behind me was a Philly trash truck. There was no way I could have stopped. A cop makes a u-turn, follows me for 2 blocks , pulls me over and writes me a $150. ticket.

Take it to court? Lose a days wages and then lose the case.

Wife and I talk it over, It's time to go permanently.

I am restarting my business near our beach house.

No more Philly for me by Spring.

For the thousandth time Philadelphia isn't a shit hole and center city is fine. The mayor is a useless asshole but he has little that he can do over this shit, the police too are somewhat hemmed in by a number of state wide issues.

First they can't bring the god damn shit down on some of these neighborhoods, the police feely admit that there are certain areas in which regular patrols simply don't exist due to a number of reasons, some good and some bs.

Second guns in Philadelphia are widely available, and by the way the law they were proposing was one handgun a week. Big fucking deal no one gets the weapons from a shop anyway. I don't think anyone really expects Philly pd to bring down the EC gun running rings, considering that they probably would have to put everyone on the team from other divisions and pay them overtime.

Third this city is way too fucking segregated, this isn't racist or anything like that, its just look at the numbers, look at the maps, with a few exceptions this is black on black in black neighborhoods. It isn't a coincidence that those areas also have close to 0 development while center city, 98% white, has at least 5 or 6 very large construction projects all partially funded through the reduction of taxes by the city. Street's neighborhood program was wack as hell but something like that is definitely needed.

Lastly a lot of this shit is with guys on parole, the fucking prison system in PA is travesty, a ton of under 18 LWOP's and possession bull shit in Bradford but in Philly dudes with federal drug charges are on the street. I shit you not about a month ago a dude was in court at 6th and Market who had a laundry list of priors, was out on parole and knifed some dude. He was out because he told the feds that he would work with them, he even told the judge that he wasn't out of lock up five minutes before he was getting into shit. Judge recommended a medical facility.

Philadelphia's problems are not super complex, city government has got to be one of the worst in the country, the state government which has a large rural republican base that would rather see Philadelphia fall into the Delaware than do something, throw in the unions and politics in Philadelphia are a cluster fuck. The police work hard but really cannot be expected to do anything right now except keeping the city from becoming unglued. Nutter comes into a really interesting situation, my personal thoughts are that stop and frisk in the long term solves nothing but I am certainly willing to give it a chance. Money is needed for the city but they really need to drop the wage and business tax, it would really help the city as a whole. Mark my words though if this really starts fucking up center city the hammer will drop hard.

You're gonna stand there, owning a fireworks stand, and tell me you don't have no whistling bungholes, no spleen spliters, whisker biscuits, honkey lighters, hoosker doos, hoosker donts, cherry bombs, nipsy daisers, with or without the scooter stick, or one single whistling kitty chaser?
