    bike repair stand?

I've used the park adjustable linkage clamp on the shop stands for many years. and I love it. Can use with one hand, fast to open, stays closed, adjustable pressure,

but I can't find that type of clamp, from park, on a portable stand that is a folding tri-pod.

    1) does that combo exist?

    2) how is this clamping as a second? (PARK PRS-15)

Yes, this combo does exist. I have one. I bought it four years ago, so I'm not sure if they still make them or not. Unfortunately, I don't remember the name. It's not a tripod, but two L-shaped legs that fold together with an extending top section. It's compact enough to fit in my Subaru on road trips and stable enough to hold my Demo 9 without a problem. I'll get the name for you later.

I've got that style, it holds good but is a bit of a pain of in the ass. I think the threads are too small and it requires a ridiculous # of turns to get it to clamp once you've spun it open to fit over the tube.

I'm not that keen on the 2 leg system, seen too many fall over on rough ground etc.

playharder: thats what I was thinking.

dallread: please let me know what it is called. tripod and good clamp

I'm a bit like you and like what I like. The older style park clamps are the bomb. I've used the PRS-15 quite a bit and like it now that I am used to it. The PRS-20 and 21 (21 is much lighter if that matters, same clamp) took some getting used to as they don't clamp the seat post / tube. Pretty standard now and nice on light weight exotic frame / post material. Park used to make a portable race stand w/ the older clamp. They went to the PRS-15 to save weight. You may find one of the originals on Ebay or someplace.
