As far as your question "is Gore's jet as big as Bush's" - I don't know and don't care. What kind of jackass question is that? GWB isn't going around like chicken little screaming about GLOBAL WARMING. And Bush isn't anywhere near as fat as Gore.
Put up or shut up. If you're going to spray like a douchebag, then claim you're right, at least try to back it up. Otherwise you're just another windbag. Oh wait...

Your words would really carry some weight if I actually gave a rat's ass what you (or anyone else, for that matter) thinks of me. Sadly, though, I don't. Like I said, my time is very valuable. I'm not about to let some thin-skinned dipshit with no sense of humor dictate to me how I'm gonna spend it.

The subject of this thread is: Al Gore is turning into a tremendous fat ass. Steve posted pictures backing this up. What more do you want?

Not motivated to prove you're right?!!? Or afraid to prove yourself dead wrong? A big mansion could still be eco friendly. Bush's jet (Air force 1) is most certainly bigger than any jet Gore has and he wouldn't scream about global warming while he's in the pocket of big oil would he. What kind of complete jackass wuss avoidance of the question is your non reply. BTW what kind of lacking any intelligent thought is focusing on the guy's weight. Can you even hear yourself you fucking moron.

    Of course I can't - I'm typing.

Now that I've answered your question, mind if I ask you something?

Why do you think it is that you and the legions of TGR douchebag librofascists get so hoarked off by my childish, mean spirited ramblings? Are you looking for approval from me? Are you unable to comprehend how anyone could possibly have a different opinion than your own? Or is it because I dare to state the obvious - that the Messiah of the new religion known as GLOBAL WARMING is pretty fat. I mean how dare I insult Al Gore!

Look - Gore's fat. It's true. Look at any recent picture of him. There's no arguement. I never said that his opinions are invalid because he's a fat bastard. You guys assumed that. You dipshits assume a lot of things. You assume that I only post on douchebag threads and insult people. Truth is I do actually "contriute" from time to time. I've suggested delicious Bass recipes, gear options for tots, recommeded great rock drummers, etc., etc.
You assume that because I'm not in lockstep with your ridiculous librofascist ideas that I'm automatically a right-wing nutjob.Truth is I think abortion is fine, I think religion is dumb (for myself, at least), I have pretty radical views about the environment (not big into trends and hype, tho), etc., etc. I voted for Bill Clinton twice. Of course I also voted for GW Bush, but what the hell was I supposed to do - vote for Gore? Or Kerry?

It's really funny how every time someone starts a thread about how some right-wing douchebag looks like a man or is a junkie, everyone piles on for multiple pages (not that I blame them and not that I don't take part in such bashings) but when someone starts a thread suggesting that Michael Moore or Al Gore is a fat lard, you morons get your little panties in a bunch. Look - I'd rip on the dipshit TGR right-wingers but the truth is there aren't many here. However, there is a huge abundance of thin-skinned, humorless, indignant, dumbass left-wing douchebags. You want me to stop being a mean asshole? You want me to go away? Stop being a moron. You have only yourself to blame.

..and Gore is still a fat hump.

Whoop-dee-fuckin'-doo, he's fat. So fucking what.

Being fat doesn't negate his arguments.

    His hypocrisy does.

BTW, if he's elected president...for those of us who can't afford to purchase carbon offsets to maintain our lifestyle - what are we supposed to do? Make do with 16th century lifestyle?

You go on here about me as a liberal douche blah blah blah because I apparently take offense to you calling Gore fat. I'm really unclear where I questioned him being fat. I'm also unclear where I expressed offense at you calling him fat. I did ask what the point of bringing up his weight is and expressed that you're a bit of a hypocrite for slamming his weight and at the same time you slam anyone who defends him.

What I did ask is for you to back up your claims (verifiable) of Gore's huge global footprint and his private jetsetting ways. I did take offense at your totally wimpy way of dealing with the question and trying to slip away from it like a snake going through a dung pile to get under the nearest rock. Come on be half the man Ann Coulter claims to be and back up your big boy talk. People like you (and her) repeatedly confuse intelligent thought with bombastic comment. Just answer that question with some cold hard facts instead of ducking it and trying to turn the issue into unrelated rants like you do in so many of your threads.

Did a search, couldn't find anything about his carbon footprint approaching canada's. I found some people spewing about his energy usage, and a few more spewing about flying/driving to speaking engagements. I found something about him using 10 or 20 times the energy of the average american. I'm pretty sure there's more than 20 or so Canadians. Even if the average Canadian uses 1/5 the energy the average american does, I'm pretty sure there's more than 100 of them. That's just a guess though.

So, granted, he consumes more than the average joe. I'm not surprised, his house/family/detail is a lot bigger than mine. I don't find this fact terribly inconsistent with his message, and even if I did, I'm mature enough to seperate his message from his lifestlye. I can even recognize the fact that he's done a great deal more than I have or probably ever will to combat global warming.

Would you please quit with the "bigger than Canada" bullshit? It's a ridiculous assertion, especially when your time is too precious to back it up (which is ridiculous in its own right, you spent your Sunday afternoon spewing this shit on TGR and who knows where else).

ps. Nobody cares that he's fat. Nobody disagreed with you or even pretended to care. That's not what this thread is about.

Actually, that is what this thread is about. Check out the first post again.

I've also read/heard the stuff about Gore's seemingly excessive use of energy, i.e., large house and some other stuff that I've forgotten (because I didn't really care all that much). I thought it was pretty common knowledge now and the facts not really in dispute. I seem to recall when I read/heard about it that the information was accompanied by some explanation by a Gore aide/sympathizer/buddy as to why things weren't, in fact, as bad as they may seem. That seems to be where the point(s) of contention would lie. In any case, really, would it be all that surprising to learn that Gore is an outsized user of energy while preaching the gospel to others? Not to me, but I'm pretty jaded.

I will agree, though, that too much is being made of Gore's girth in this thread. Michael Moore is way fatter and that's what we should be worried about.

I'm sorry. I didn't read this carefully the first time. You spent most of your post proving that Gore's carbon footprint is most certainly not bigger than Canada's or even anywhere close. I hope I'm missing the nuanced humor.

I don't know, what's the carbon footprint of geothermic heat and cooling and maybe solar/wind generated electricity? That footprint could be smaller than a bungalow. There is still the issue of materials to build a home so it's pretty relative. Of course so are terms like big and mansion which brings us back to my request to back up the claims of Gore's carbon footprint.

OP and what the thread actually turns out to be about are not the same things.

Jer keeps spraying about AG's carbon footprint being bigger than Canada's. That's all, wss.

Carbon offsets are not an impossible concept. They're certainly not THE solution, and not everybody can afford them. I'm not Al Gore's fanboy -- I'm just saying that he made a good movie, many of the points he raised were valid, and that his lifestyle is not as inconsistent with his message as some are whining about.

It isn't about not consuming, it's about consuming responsibly. Bullshit proposition? I don't know, but how about wasting your time on the internet bitching about that instead, jer?

Actually it's what the thread WAS about. Now it's about Jer ducking questions like a 5year old girl caught in a lie.

You thought Gore's energy use was common knowledge because you accepted someone's word. Not far back it was largely accepted common knowledge that Gore had claimed to invent the internet since some supposed professional journalists spewed about it. It was completely untrue.

To me it's not even in contention what his consumption is because I don't know but I have asked a few times to back up some wild statements. Clearly it's not more than Canada that's just the regular shit drooling out of Jer's mouth. I would like to see data proving it is even 20 times the average american's. It's easy to spew crap and easier still to just accept that crap. It's a bit more responsible to question that crap.

I also agree with Focus that even if consumption is that high it doesn't negate his message any more than being fat does.

    His hypocrisy does.
His hypocrisy does not make his arguments incorrect. It makes him a hypocrite. I don't like Al Gore, but the things that he presents based upon reputable research and information are not negated by his questionable personal commitment to the cause.

And it's even more responsible still, to put a little effort into educating yourself about things that are a matter of public record, rather than demanding that some guy on the internet do it for you.

Gore's energy bills are public knowledge. They are very easy to find, if you want to find them.

I don't really think jer was engaging in hyperbole....I think he really believes that shit. I suppose I may be wrong, though it probably doesn't matter.

Gore's energy bills are public knowledge. So is the fact that he spends thousands more to obtain energy from clean, renewable sources. What isn't widely known is the Gore household's net effect on global carbon emissions, per capita, and how that compares to the average american (since the average american seems to be the bar here, somehow). That's the crux of the bitching, or it should be.

Really this is all an inconsequential tangent to the entire issue of carbon emissions and global warming. Treating it as anything but is not responsible at all (since we're talking degrees of responsibility).

Now you're comparing me with Ann Coulter? The only thing we have in common is male genetailia and long hair.

"Unrelated rants" ? This thread is about Al Gore's obesity. Oh, I know, to you it's about something else, but in the real world it's just about Al Gore being fat. Chill, bro. Or continue letting me piss you off. Either way is fine with me. Either way, Al Gore's still a big fat lard.

Hey I not making the claim so I don't think it's too much to ask for sources. I'm sure you found that in school when you had to list footnotes. Like I said it became common knowledge that he claimed to invent the internet so 'common knowledge' doesn't really cut it.

On to fun with figures does Gore take credit for a household of 20 plus 10 fulltime staff? Do the averages being used include carbon output produced while people work? I'm not really trying to justify what he does or doesn't do just trying to compare apples to apples on something more than hearsay. Asking someone to back up a statement isn't that big a deal unless of course all anyone can say is 'it's common knowledge' or maybe 'I read it on rightwingslandermongers.com'

Yes, I accepted someone's word. Almost all of the knowledge I have has been obtained in that way. So has yours and everyone else's.

Now, see, I thought that was generally recognized as a joke, an exaggeration of whatever it was that he really said. I really don't see a parallel between the obviously ridiculous inventing the Internet story and the very plausible outsized user of energy story.

I can't recall being asked to footnote statements I've made in conversation, and that's what a thread is, a conversation, not a term paper or a thesis. Nevertheless ...

It became common knowledge as a joke. I didn't know that there were people who believed that or who thought that others did. I don't recall his exact words, but my understanding of the whole "invented the Internet" thing is that it was a goof on what were thought to be some exaggerated claims he made regarding his hand in propelling development of the Internet.

Good questions. Really. It's not so hard to dig for the information, so if you're really interested, I wonder why you didn't. Google "Gore's energy usage," for example. You'll get lots of hits. I perused a few. It seems that he's generally thought to be using way more than his share of energy, but there are - or may be - mitigating factors. I won't try to summarize what I read. Search and read it yourself.

I really hope you're not talking about the carbon footprint bigger than Canada statement. It's just too painful to think that you believe anyone could possibly mean that literally.

    No, it isn't.

It's a nice idea and all, but the "solution" to GW isn't conservation. We are going to have to remove the offending agents from the atmosphere(or offset them in some way). Otherwise the earth is going to continue to heat up.

Conservation is good. Reduced emissions is good. We should have more of both. But neither is a "solution" to GW.
