Raps the way you capture NYC life is just like Toronto life. Every time I see a beautiful sunset or ride some awesome trail I think how lucky I am living on the west coast and not stuck in my hard working life I had before. So true about the city friends...all they do is work and party with the occasional trip thrown in.

Congrats on making the choice....many people can't pull the trigger....in a several months I'm sure you'll be writing from a happier place.

Way to commit Raps. I think it's best to try and live an 'interesting' life. Not for the sake of being interesting, but because said life yields the best/most fun/most rewarding results. I'm quitting my job in the Bay Area this fall to bum around the Sierra before heading back to school. If you're interested in finding a place in North Tahoe (Truckee --> Tahoe City corridor) for Jan/Feb/March let me know. Congrats, now you can breathe deeeep & relax...

Smart choice. I made the same one a few weeks ago and bought a place in denver, now I just have to wait for them to build the damn thing. I have been in NYC for 4 years, can't imagine the pent up energy you would have after spending your entire life here. Good luck and don't look back.

With rent like that you could actually get a place in Jackson Hole.

    Nice decision!

Yeah the rent though is split 3 ways but its still crazy considering my bedroom only has room for a bed and night stand, nothing else. But i also pay a separate rent for my office.....plus tv and electric....etc....i am paying around 2G a month to live here.

So yeah, i'm open to a lot of options and hoping to spend half what i pay now or even less....

Also just realized i might have to sell my truck before i go and buy something more reliable to get me out there........never wanted to sell it but might have too

So now on to the planning...........
Good for you Raps. Quality of life is crucial. I recently almost took a position in Idaho because of great outdoor recreation opportunities even though the town itself, salary, and some other aspects of the job were lousy. Hopefully when I go back on the market this fall I'll get a job somewhere that won't require compromising quality of life for quality of the work environment. Best of luck to you wherever you end up.

I don't want to make that mistake - i want to meet some new people and have an adventure while i am young.

i need to be near a big airport since i will have to travel for work a decent amount.

The only tough thing will be telling my girlfriend.
This was the exact reason I had to leave WI. I do indeed miss my old drinkin’ buddies and family, but I have found I get more quality time with each of them when they come out to visit (or vice versa).

My job also demanded easy access to an airport. SLC as defiantly gotten better that last few years, but the direct flights to almost anywhere from Denver was the determining factor for me.

The girl, mine ended up being THE one and we are now happily married out west.

Good luck with your surgery and congrats on a hudge decision.

Way to go Rapster, the Jackson airport can get ya anywhere, but flights can be pretty spendy sometimes. If I was livin yer dream, i'd be heading to find a place up in Big or Lil Cottonwood Cyn, not SLC proper. You'd be soooo stoked waking up to 1-4 feet of fresh and not having to drive much or deal with traffic.

    good luck, and good move!

Hey Raps, any chance you were at the beer garden in Queens on Saturday? Saw someone there who kinda looked like you but I wasn't drunk enough yet to ask for change.
And congrats on the move. I'm stuck here for at least another three years but hopefully after that...

Raps- good deal, man. I know a place you can rent which is close to Albie's, Sincy's, and LCC that is coming due on August 1 if you want to choose SLC for the long haul.

Thanks but i think i am going to try and sublet first where ever i do start out. Don't want to get into any contracts. So keep your ears open in your area for people looking to sublet in the fall/winter. Sounds like a great location though!

And in other news.......i told the GF......lets just say it was Tear Fest 2007 - but i feel relieved cause i didn't like keepin it from her - we shall see what happens to us but she is doing well with the news now - but good to get that out of the way....

You can crash in the dirt-floored crawl space under my stairs. My cat only pissed under there for like, a month.

Dude, it's about time. Glad to see you making the move. Good luck out there, and don't forget the little people when www.raps-xxx.com sells for millions.
