FS: Elan Quad 1 Superfat skis w/bindings, $400

So heres the deal, I have a pair of Elan Quad 1's with Elan (tyrolia) din 17 bindings for sale, the whole setup for $400 bucks. They are in good shape, they could use a tune, I will wax and debur for you. No core shots, no cracked edges. The only down side is that they have been drilled twice. They are currently mounted for a boot that is in between a 27 and a 28 (wierd dolomite euro sizing) but should fit from a 26 to maybe even a 29. They are mounted a little forward of thier traditional mount because it was way to far back. They are 184 with dimensions of 161/121/141. Get yourself a pair of the fattest skis out there for next year when it hopefully actually snows. I'm open to trade for bike potentially as well, let me know. They have maybe been skied 20 days, I used to ski for Elan, but didn't really get much of chance to use them.

What the fuck is Elan trying to accomplish with a super shaped, super stiff, kinda short, super fat, sorta swallowtailed ski?

If you want a fat ski that absoultely RULEZ the groomers these skis are it...they don't rule much else though.

They work better than you would think. The width alone makes a big difference when its deep, plus it doesn't suck to have your fat skis work on the groomers too.

Really? I've heard these skis are actually pretty fricken sweet. Sure it's a big shovel, but with the swallow and the relatively small tail, plus a 60m radius or something ridiculous I don't think they're all that hooky or turny. If they were 195s I'd be in.

I demoed them on a variable springish day with frozen, semi corn, corn, wet slop, refrozen crust....just a weird ski who's giant tip got pushed around by the "off-piste" conditions and whos shape forced you into these unwavering medium radius turns...fucking things FLEW on the groomers though. In pow hard to say but that length, shape, stiffness combo...ew....it just can't be good (at least for me).

    no way it's a 60m radius, I'm guessing more like 20m.

60m radius? 161/121/141? does not compute...

edit: ya, what corky said. 20m sounds about right

You're right on the radius. Maybe the ones I saw were protos or something, but the radius was written was huge considering the sidecut. Or maybe it's elan and their kooky topsheet printing again. Well, I haven't skied them (far too short) but just that I met 3 or 4 guys who LOVED them and were skiing pretty good on them so someone else out there should be onto it.

I found they skied longer than 184, and I'm not just trying to sell them to you. They hold pretty well at speed with the stiffness, but you are right that the sidecut is a little goofy. Its a little hooky at first, but easy to get used, oh and I'll make if $400 shipped if someone from this board buys them, or if your in Salt Lake, we can maybe work something out.
