    Tanner's crash on MTV

So MTV has this new show called "Scarred" where they basically show clips of people eating shit. They've been playing Tanner's crash at Chad's gap for there promos. This was the first time I actually saw footage of the injury. Holy shit- that was intense. No wonder it killed him

I think he died it's sad really.
People should learn endurance; they should learn to endure the discomforts of heat and cold, hunger and thirst; they should learn to be patient when receiving abuse and scorn; for it is the practice of endurance that quenches the fire of worldly passions which is burning up their bodies.

The sound it made on impact was pretty gross too.

That and Simon Dumont's fall where he overshot the jump at Park City were two really nasty sounding bails.

Anybody else think this show is really irresponsible? A bit of glorification? Lightening the impact of serious injury? Am I just a cranky old car-accident survivor?

It may glorify injury a bit... but watching that crash certainly doesn't make me want to go hit Chad's gap. I think the idea is about showing just how fucked up these guys get in the name of their careers. A bit of a peak behind the curtain of "action sports fame."

I don't think it lightens the impact of the injury or the severity in any way.

It makes me damn well sure I don't want to hit chaps gap, and makes it known what these guys, who are incredible athletes, will go thru and risk to do what they love to do. Because face it, skiers don't become pros for the big money contracts that don't exist.

Most of the kids on this show arent pros, theyre just normal potheaded skateboarders who are filming and screwing around who break their legs and knees and shit. I saw it a few months ago, at 2am on a Friday night and it had me a little queezy.

    Should have been watching porn...

His scream is pretty powerfull, you can tell he is screaming more out of frustration of the injury then the pain (me thinks).

Dont underestimate the fury brought about by statements made about about the steve factor of a jibbers pant. Just remember what happened when NPM's street cred was attacked.

    Never saw that before, ouch.

But he is not dead and was so safe two weekends ago in PC that he could not even have a real conversation with me. I got a mumbled, "hey dude, I remember you, howya doin, you "safe" too, hope so man, I need another drink." But he shared, then I could not talk.

His clothes are so FUCKING BIG, he looked fairly funny and his "posse" was a joke. Looked like Halloween, gansta style.

I too think he is screaming here in pain but more frustration as he knew in a few seconds he was done for a while.

Actually I think this show will have the opposite affect, kids are going to see this and say "oh shit maybe I won't try this" after they see what happens. Either that or they'll start wearing protection because most guys on the show don't.

I think that show is moronic, but a really smart business move on MTV's part. Shit, most of that crash footie couldn't have cost them too much (like, at all), and you can bet much of their demographic's going to rubberneck like a motherfucker.

Heh, at least skiing's on MTV...

edit: just noticed the Tignes thread. RIP Neal
