    Official 2007 NHL Playoffs Thread...

It's that time. Starting Wednesday, the quest for one of sports most difficult titles begins.

Post up who you like, who you want. And what series you are stoked on.

As a Western New York-native, I have to stand behind my hometown team. The Buffalo Sabres.

Scoring depth on our team is 4 full-lines. Miller can be OUTSTANDING in net. Defense has been solid when called upon. The Sabres actually have to decide who to bench during the playoffs and it will be a player that on any other team would be guaranteed a starting position, often in the teams top 3 lines.

A series though that should be VERY exciting will be the Pittsburgh, Ottawa series. Should be an all-out run and gun series. Lots of creativity and skating.

Calgary, Detroit is another series that should be real good.

Ugh, actually. Looking at the matchups, all the series should be real good. Best matchups look out west though. Out west I can't really even pick a clear winner of the series.

Playoff Hockey > Regular Season Hockey > any other team sport

As a Texas native (i was three when the stars came to town), I'm pulling for the stars. The feasability of them making it depends solely on the consistency of Turco's play in net.

See, the Islanders normally wouldn't even deserve a second glance in comparison to the Sabres...

...but what DOES worry me though, is that Ted Nolan has an inate ability to get a team to rally bigtime. in '97, he took a team deep into the playoffs with Brian Holzinger as the teams leading goal-scorer. Ryan Smyth is troublesome as well.

The other thing that you have to keep in the back of the mind is a young goaltender. Out of nowhere, given a shot at it all, might make waves and end up becoming a stellar player. It's happened before...

As a life long Bruins fan/Sabre hater I have no problem saying the Sabres will be unstopable unless injury plagued...and like bigair said, this is true mostly because of their 4 line depth...no other team has scoring all through the roster like they do...and Miller is better than good enough to win a cup
If it's green, smoke it...if it's pink, poke it

Well, I am going to make a call here and say Vancouver will go all the way. This is based on two premises:

    (1) 2004, 2006 finalists were two western Canadian teams (Oil and the shames), therefore there is only one western Canadian team left....Vancouver
    (3) Roberto Luongo. If he keeps up his play, he can carry this team all the way. Basically, it all depends on him.

Honestly, its the playoffs, at this point regular season is moot. Let the fun begin.

I'm a fan of yetiman's post, the kid on snowlerblades fallin down while you took pictures was fuckin classic, but the Redwings will suck balls and ReTodd is the king dickbag. I hope he gets a sharp stick in the eye.

It'll be an interesting series b/w them and the flamers.
Go Sabres,i guess. I dig Drury.

Fucking NHL, what a garbage schedule for the Flames Wings series. If there's going to be a 2 day layoff b/w games it should be between travel games. And a damn 11am Calgary time sunday game for fucks sake, I don't think we've played at that time all year. Oh well, I'm just bitter because I have to miss game 3 to write a night time exam , at least I'll be at game 4 and every one after!

Should be a great series regardless, every series in the West is pretty much a coin flip, but I think all of the top seeds in the East will prevail.

Our world is full of surrender at the first sign of adversity, do not give up when the challenge meets you, meet the challenge. Through perseverance comes the rewards, the rewards that make life so enjoyable.

Seize the day, trusting little in the future.

I'd like to see the Pens, Ducks, Wings, and Sabres make the semis though I do think the penguins need have a lot of things go thier way. If Fluery (he had very a good strech in the second half of this season, but playoff hockey is a horse of a different color) is hot, it can happen, if not, who knows. I love watching Crosby, Malkin, Staal, & Whitney play, they are so damn young and are exciting.

Honestly I thinks the Ducks and Sabres will be in the finals, but Nashville is good but a lot of hurt players, and you can't count out the Rent Wings.
Always charging it in honor of Flyin' Ryan Hawks.
