I'm wondering how the coverage is in there right now....

We'll be at the basin for a work fiesta tomorrow. There was some talk of Shit For Brains. Maybe I'll have some info for you tomorrow night............
straightline it from the top Phish!!!
It's good. Go do it. Done it thrice this year and it was solid every time.
Was thinking the same thing Phish. This weekend?

mohshsihd----Sorry I have no pics. I never take photos......ever. Kinda sad for a guy with a associates degree in photography huh?
Any hooo, Some advice if you haven't done this line before. I've done it about 15 times in the last 8 years. The best way we have found is skinning up the lookers left ridge above dog leg as far as you can then booting the rest. The top is a little hairy, 3rd class scrambling over snowcovered rocks can get a little sketchy in ski/board boots.
Bootpacking up dogleg is bascally in a slidepath the whole time and is generally frowned upon by MMQB'S ;)
Some people even bootpack straight up the couloir and this I have never understood. The line is so narrow that it basically ruins the best part. Straightlining the fucking choke! But it does allow you to check out the snowpack on the way up which might be beneficial for a first timer.
Just one other side note: Don't take more than three (2 preferably) or the last person just gets ripped off and if you are not on skins DO NOT HIKE IN THE SKIN TRACK! Local skiers get ever more perturbed at this than skiers elsewhere.
Have fun!
PS it's wider than it looks!
Depending circumstances, I might ski Saturday and hang with my girls on Sunday. I'll probably know by tonight and let you guys know.
So whats the deal for sunday?
Seems like alot of people want in, but we can't really run a train on her like we would like to....

GFP skiing... it's much wider than it looks from far away. The choke narrows out, but you can still make small turns.

I don't have any far away pics, but you get the idea. Fun line, bit of a sketchy scramble coming over the top from Dogleg. I'd do it again.
thanks for the pics...
is the scramble really sketch with alpine boots on?
these crampons will fix you up...390 grams

oh, that does look nice.....thanks for the pics
hm, well I was in AT boots, and I thought it was sketch, but when we were up there the rocks were all covered in slick ice. Fun stuff. If it's been sunny and the ice may have melted out... who knows. It's not so bad, just don't fall. I don't know if crampons would help since it's all over rocks. Just strap your skis on your back with your tips pointing AWAY from the rocks, aka to your right... or they will try and push you off, like mine did, down into the abyss. :)
Hmmm... I was wondering when altachic dropped that line.
Pics from 3 weeks ago.
