I've only heard that one tune by that guy and you hear it on the radio all the time...oddly enough not on 88.9 who has the best terrestrial reggae show in boston. :p Anyways, I'm a big reggae fan but his music doesn't feel or sound like reggae to me.
^ 88.9 is an awesome station for reggae and underground hip hop. im suprised by the disliking of this guy. im a huge reggae fan as much of you all are and think hes pretty good. i wouldnt go as far as saying he is the worst. live at stubbs is a decent album.
I clicked the link, I heard nothing I wanted to hear more of.
well shit. i dont promote for the guy, i just thought people would like it.

That said though, my reggae tastes to not extend much beyond Bob.
Amen. Rabbi kills it.

I give him props
I think that one song on the radio is okay, but the rest of the album is booty.

I'm probably in the minority here, but I fucking hate the Beaties too.Quote:

It was fucking AWESOME. That was my introduction to "Matisyahu". :yourock:

I don’t claim to be a Reggae expert nor do I consider my music taste very cutting edge…but I get a good feeling when I hear that song on the radio and I like good feelings over bad ones. :)
I hope to use it in a viddy at some point….

You're retarded. Don't you realize that you are supposed to like music not because it makes you feel good, but because it makes you seem cool? ;)Quote:

I think the point in some's distaste for this guy is that some kid is going to hear this song on the radio and think this is what reggae is and is all about and he will be sorely mistaken.
I am going to go as far to say that he uses reggae elements in his music, but it's not reggae. It's about as reggae as OAR is.
That being said I do like the song, it makes me feel good, and I sing along in the car to it just like I shamefully admit to singing along to OARs "Crazy Game of Poker".
College-whiteboy-jam-funky music, not reggae. (Not that there's anything wrong with that.)

seriously....OAR is so fucking horrible...
who in their right mind would ever own their CDs or anything?

By the way, any show in which someone fires a flaming arrow into the stadium ceiling must indicate at least a decent band, IMHO (Tacoma Dome circa 95, I believe).
<spoof on 40 year old virgin>
"you know how I know you're gay?"
"'cause you sing along to OAR"
I like the guy, I think he definetly sings about his spirituality with a passion, but his general style, is right out of the book of alot of late 80`s reggae bands. Don Carlos, Half Pint, Eek a Mouse, Burning Spear, Jacob Miller Yellowman (remember than knarly dude?). If you like Matis, check out some of the orginal stuff.Personally im stuck in 1988 as far as reggae goes.
Yea, they are good. They have a tune in Weyhakin (spelling) TGR's kayak flick from a couple years ago.Quote:

But the show I saw was fucking awesome...
the 4 chocolates we found on the ground on the way in probably helped though
singing OAR outloud in the privacy of your own car is more than boarderline suspect.
(not that there's anything wrong with that) if i may quote seinfeld
i hope we all agree steel pulse is a sick reggae band
yes....steel pulse is awesomeQuote:
