I wasn't there, went for a little hike near east vail instead. But I strongly recommend that you go. It's even snowing...
Good enough for me.
It was delicious. Their opening up richards. Avoid the fucking ski patrol though.
Come to A-basin, I'd like to meet you tomorrow. Seriously. It'll be fun.Quote:

first post, jong away.
I headed up from Abq last night and spent the day at loveland. Hardly a line at all, not too crowded, snow was great in the morning, a little scraped later in the day. I left around 3.
Headed up over the pass and passed A-Basin on my way to Silverthorn and *holy sh!t* the lift line looks long. Had to be over 100 people waiting in line.
Couple snowboarders I gave a ride up the pass said they heard ppl were waiting 30-40 minutes for the lift at a-basin. I'll prolly hit basin early tomorrow morn and start trekking back to Abq early afternoon.
Away, JONG.Quote:

Some advice for you - if you're gonna poach, and I'm not saying you should, but if you are, DO NOT do it on the weekends when all the nationals are around with eyes in the back of their heads. Weekdays when it's storming with low vis are really your only chance.Quote:

Loveland was nice today... decent snow (3" overnight), crowds weren't bad, and it was snowing the whole time we were there. Not a bad way to start the season.
Yeah, I got a bunch of crap on Saturday. I let some kid snip my day pass, and some how it got traced back to me.Quote:

Adam, what sticks were you on?? I'd have looked for you if I knew you were there. I was on 189 Vicious.
I was on some Dynastar 10's (some crappy ones that i got for cheap). Have not mounted my gotamas yet. I definitely agree with you about all the pathetic trollers at loveland. I don't know how the got on.
Very good day today. Got there close to opening and spun about a dozen laps. When it started getting icy and crowded, I decided to stop by the shop there and get a quick tune before heading home. While waiting for my board, it started to dump. As soon as the board was done I jumped back on the lift and spun a few more laps in fresh snow on a freshly tuned board.

Today was really good. I had lots o' fun. Its really fun knowing almost every lfitee, food court personel and maintence crew. Man, the little cabin top of one smelled rather potent when I went in there.
I hear ya, apparently I was skiing too fast and caught the attention of a troller. My buddy saw the guy try and catch up to us but couldn't and ate shit :the_fingeQuote:

Keystone opens next weekend. I don't think anyone has any idea how stoked I am about that (read: minimally to moderately).
How in the hell didn't I see you?Quote:

According to summit, who LOVES the place (and lives there). Then again, from the ultimate sick radness today his mind could have been blown and he could have misjudged the date.
The 11th was what I had always thought, too. But it's possible this little storm sped things up a bit...?
yeah I don't really know for sure, I live and work there as well, but as far as I know the "word" from the man is the 11th, the 4th has been discussed but no call has been made, and the rumor around the mountain is that it doesn't look good. I just don't want 1000 angry denvoids showig up at my lifts on friday expecting to ski.
I'll be skiing next weekend. To be perfectly honest, I'd rather spend a day at your mountain with a high speed quad so I don't have to wait in line for 25 minutes so I can ski for 5.
But if it's not open, I guess that will not be happening... Which is cool. Don't want to inspire false pretenses. My beezy...

Loveland definitely rocked today- especially considering the lines I've heard about at A-Basin. If it kept up the dumpage all day from when we left, they could get some decent snow. I'd like to see them start opening up some more terrain soon.
As for Keystone, I don't think I'll touch that place until they get good snow for a while... I went last year when they had one or two runs open and I've never been on a run that crowded before.

Dude it's my first season in the mountains. Of COURSE I'm going to want as many minutes on my edges as I can possibly get. Like you said, I'll probably burn out. And when I do, I'll be chipping in for brews with you guys. ;)
Until then, I'll be in the lift lines. Unless of course the kids on my floor continue to have little to no desire to go ski, in which case, I will have to beseech you earnestly for a ride to wherever the magical suby takes us. :tdo13:

Yeah, the lines a A Basin were huge today and I didn't even get there until afternoon. Still managed to beater myself so hard sliding a box that I wonder what walking will be like tomorrow. Ouch, my @ss hurts.
Ok, so enough of falling on hard snow. I want to fall on soft snow. It's dumping right now and Loveland Pass should be ok in the morning. I'll be at the bottom pullout at 6:30 am if anybody wants to join me.
adam - some stuff has seriously changed this season at Loveland and it's not all Pip's fault. I'm guessing you already know about at least some of it? Let's not yammer about it here, but talk later. Anyway, you gotta take a lot of care about breaking any rules - you don't want to get booted off the hill.
Max, Copper will be opening on the 4th w/ a pair of high speed quads. I'm sure they will throw a few boxes and rails out as well.
So I skied three runs on the pass this morning - just dropped in without hiking. Sweet untracked turns from 6" to knee deep. The wind was howling and cornices are starting to form.
good stuff mir.Quote:
