I was thinking of that one but my family never has reunions, and we're cultural opposites--I don't think Slayton gets the New Yorker. (But then McMurtry--neither one of them--isn't quite the dirtbag he makes himself out to be. My wife was offended when he had a glass of wine at a show instead of beer. There was a 3 piece jazz group playing it straight through at the hotel lobby bar we grabbed a manhattan at this weekend. Dark wood paneled walls, deep quilted leather seats, candles on tables, snacks in little silver trays and really well made big drinks in heavy crystal glassware.
Not a bad way to spend an hour or so.
If we are talking all the holidays for some reason US Blues has always been a Fourth of July song to me.
