DONT SAY GO TO THE FUCKIN ARCH!

GO!
Smoki O's was the best BBQ I had there when I lived there. Pig snout is the local "thing".
Yemanja is a fun/good Brazilian restaraunt (not steakhouse).
City Museum is a fun and cheap date diversion kind of place, serves beer at night.
Schlafly taproom?
I dunno, I mainly got out of town or wandered around drunk.
Ted Drewes Frozen Custard.
Say what up to Nelly for me.
NOT get raped, robbed or murdered. Those are fun things NOT to to do in St. Louis.
I can tell you what I do, fill up the tank about 50 miles east or west of St. Louis and drive until it is time to fill up again, not even stopping in that abysmal swelter pot of crime.
I like St. Louis. The disc golf is great, Jefferson Barracks, Creve Coeur, Endicott and Sioux Passage are all great courses. I haven't been to the City Museum but I've heard its cool and I plan on going there the next time I'm there. The Budweiser tour is pretty interesting and you get two free beers.
Cardinals game.
st. louis is for Italian food, not BBQ. Go to Trattoria Marsala, it is where old time gangsters ate. The Art museum is free. The zoo is awesome and free. The science center is free. The Central West end is funky and fun to walk around. Just don't go to the north side alone, or with a friend, or with a small army. You will be shot.
City Museum, Cards game, Italian food on the hill, I remember Zia's was good. St. Louis is not a bbq mecca, it's just a way of cutting the rib rack.
bring your running shoes and I'll show you around. PM me dates.
also - pappy's is supposed to be some of best bbq in USA.
Really, there isn't shit to do but run and drink, both of which just happen to have become my pastimes - a cool dude named Meatdrink9 once lived here - I could show you his apartment!
Third on City Museum...
if you're an adolescent.
Seriously, it's a giant playground designed and built by hippies and put on steroids. Very cool, but for kids.
Pappy's Smokehouse was some of the best BBQ I've had, Smoking Joe's sucked balls.
Tony's is good.
Im in misory right meow! Here for the retard convention. Has this thin crust provelone and mozzeralla thing. Pretty good left me wanting more. Thought it was gonna rain today. Would have brought clubs. Goin to hockey game tonight.
Strips clubs worth attending? Im a full nude, full bar kinda guy. Do i have to go to illi noise?
I will second or third or whatever Drewes frozen custard, Pappys Bbq is teh shit and the City Museum is amazing. Bonus is Pappys is kind of near the museum. Oh and the St Louis Zoo rocks too if you dig displaced caged animals.

Wow - second worst violent crime rate in the US after Detroit. I had no idea. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_..._by_crime_rate
St. Louis is like Chicago use to be in the fact that some places are ridiculously safe & others are the opposite.Blues game would be a hot ticket,Cardinals game is always rockin, have some drinks at the Broadway Oyster Bar before the game. For Pizza- Farotto's in Rockhill ,you can order Mozzarella if you like , I do. Fast food- Lion's Choice Roast Beef,Italian- Gitto's on the Hill, the place where toasted ravioli was invented & the only place to eat it.BBQ-Pappy's, Snouts be the thang across the river in East St. Louis , a place 10x's scarier than anything in St. Louis or anywhere else in the country for that matter.Sandwich on the hill,Mama Toscano's takeout or Adriana's,instead of Ted Drewes frozen custard, go to Jennifer's Pharmacy & Soda Shop for an old school soda or milkshake.City Museum. If you go to the strip clubs in ILL, DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT get lost or make a wrong turn & end up in East St Louis at night. The Central West End is cool as is the Loop on Delmar- do not leave the demarcation zones in either place, Forest Park is the largest city park in the country, just stay out of the area known as "The Fruit Loop", unless that's your thing! Last but not least the correct spelling is Misery.
See the Arch.
See the Budweiser Clydestale barn.
Taste the ''private stock'' newest Anheiser-Busch owned micro brew in the tasting room.
Leave.

The Bowling Hall of Fame is right around the corner from Busch Stadium, it's pretty cool if you like kitsch.
Ha! I just did this about two hours ago. I took your advice seriously and gassed up in a ritzy area about 35 miles West of the city. However from 70, I missed the 64 East exit in the darkish drizzle.
In my VW Bus, I got off at the first exit and did a quick turn around and got on 64. Whew!
Currently roadtripping to Cape Hetteras with the kids. Somehow I tricked Mrs. SIJ into letting me leave with the kids for Spring.
Jackson to Hatteras in a VW Bus? Nice! Do you know where in Hatteras you're going? Man I love that place, it's been a few years. Have a blast wherever you end up. Going sailing?
I want to teach the kids to surf- i graduated from ECU and spent alot of time on the Outer Banks We skied alot this Winter. Surf and Sand is in order.
Crossing the country at 56 miles an hour- good stuff!
Oh yeah... Hoping to stay in Buxton for a few weeks. We'll see...
holy shit Ted Drewes! YES. grandparents lived there and always went there when we headed down from chicago. And if you're white or care to live, don't go to E. St. Louis. ended up there once on accident and ran every red light trying to get out. get pulled over on edge of town and cop comes up to me and says" Boy, there's only 2 reasons for you to be here: 1. you're lost, 2. you're buying drugs.<pause> I REALLY hope you're fucking lost" He then told us to get the fuck back across the river. funny thing is I used to go skate as a teenager in carbrini green and other shitholes all over chicago and never felt very threatened.
Do they give tours of the fighter jet factory?
The arch is cool, though, go see it.
"pack up and get the fuck out!" to quote the good ol midwest joke. . .
my buddy got married in the city museum on halloween for a costume wedding, so alls i gots to say is the city museum on mind altering drugs or alcohol with a bunch of close friends is really really fun!
his rehearsal dinner was at Pin-Up Bowl and we stayed at the moonrise hotel, which was all cool. we had a killer time in that area, del mar i think?, but we were rolling 20 deep, so could have had fun anywhere.
not sure if any of that helped
I grew up in STL...
1) Hit the hill for food. LaRusso's, Cunettos or Bartolinos or Trattoria Marcella for dinner. Adrianas or Amighettis for lunch. Pappy's is not to be missed nor is Ted Drewes. Farmhaus for fancy fare, Carl's for old-school drive-in style burgers.
2) Go out in the Central West End, Soulard or the Loop. Tons and tons of good bars in STL
3) For strip clubs you are going to have to go to East St. Louis. Penthouse is the largest and has the best looking girls. Hollywood, hustler, PTs and others are 2nd tier but sometimes more fun. BE CAREFUL IN EAST ST. LOUIS. SHIT GETS REAL OVER THERE.
4) Activities - Cardinals game is a must. Anheuser busch brewery tour is awesome. Go to Forest Park and walk/run/bike the bike path, checkout the zoo, science and art museums (all free) or play a round of golf. Blues playoffs are going on right now. There is a trail called the Katy trail not too far outside of town that is decent for riding your bike. Lots of cool neighborhoods to checkout, stl is an old place.
seriously, McDonnell Douglas (now Boeing, I guess), has a factory around the airport. Or at least used to.
I remember changing planes there once when I was about 8. I watched 4 f-15s take off 2x2 while I was sitting on the plane picking my nose. It was pretty cool.
Looking on Google Earth, it looks like it is or was a guard base, too. But I remember circling in over the (then) McDonnell Douglas factory as seeing all these fighter jets in various stages of assembly. When your 8 that shit can give you your first hardon.
from WikiPedia:
Um....really?!Quote:
Currently, Berry usually performs one Wednesday each month at Blueberry Hill, a restaurant and bar located in the Delmar Loop neighborhood in St. Louis
So St Louis is fuckin crazy. Had no idea.
All good recs thanks for them.
Bars down by the water were cool.
Did the hill old school Italian district at gian-toneys which is one of only a handfull open on sun night it would seem.
I guess the ravioli was said to be invented in st loius? Who new.
Went pho grand for Vietnamese and it was good. Blues game for double overtime. Every fucking man women and child in there had a jersey on.
They got like over 15% unemployment- (unofficial stat) but they can all afford jerseys. Cardinals fans, cubbies fans everywhere all weekend.
2 play off hockey games, three opening season baseball games, a marathon and the NRA annual meeting and convention all in one weekend in one city = shit show.
pappys was very good bbq.
the city is so very strangely split with weird districts and so many burned out houses.
Whats up with gang controlled illinois towns making all their own rules with 24 hour bar and strip clubs and gangs of people marauding in the streets and jumping you at the smallest possible instance? Taxis extorting money from you by taking you to bad hoods and forcing you to pay up to get out?
Is this Romania or Tijuana?
Place is pretty fuct up.
place is fucking crazy.
(heavy waukeegan illinois accent for the following...quite possibly the most annoying of all NA accents with perhaps the exception of the buffalo new york area which is also very nasal and obnoxious)
"So I go down to the local ford dealer, and hey will ya look at that? 'Buy a new F-250 get an free AK'. So I think, great! I need a new truck so here I go. I buy the 250 and go to the local FFL to get me gun. So, im looking at the AKs and AKs are great but I been on the wrong end of an AK before so I dont love um. So then I look at the AR's and those are great to but they jamm up allot so then I see the sigs, and you can never have enough sigs am I right? So I got a sig 250, So I got a 250 to go IN my 250 and I am good to go."
fuckin asshole.
Need new job in Bozeman, who's hiring?
It's so crazy down there, a penguin bit the former House Speaker.
penguins love newts
Just had a very tasty burger and even better local micro-brews here: http://baileysrange.com/
Bonus: Bartender was pretty hot in a bleached blonde - tattooed - nose stud kinda way.
Ate at the BBQ motherlode on Wed. Night... Pappy's Smokehouse - had the Full Rack combo (w/brisket) with Slaw and fried Corn. Goddamn what a meatgasm that was.
Honestly I thought downtown St. Louis was pretty cool, all in all. A bit quiet but nice, and the chicas were quite fetching generally.
Nope, just Range and Pappy's. Was a quick-hitter trip to interview the STL Fed President. Stayed downtown the whole time.

just wanted to make sure this was here.
