100' Backflip Off Hospital Air

So hardrider just calls to tell me the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. He insisted I post it for the rest of you.

He and his boss were watching Focused and Seth's backflip plays.

Hr: That's sick.

Boss: Oh that's nothing. It's just a stupid backflip.

Hr: (Sure like you've thrown one before) Yeah, but it's off a 100 foot cliff.

Boss: So?

Hr: :rolleyes: ...... :rolleyes: I'd like to see you do it.

Boss: Sure, where.

Hr: Well there's a perfect line at Kirkwood: Hospital Air. It's plenty big.

Boss: No problem.

Hr: :rolleyes: [Pick up phone, call Arty, and laugh uncontrollably]

At this point I have to ask whether or not the guy is just joking. After all if you've met him, you know there's NO WAY IN HELL this is gonna happen. Turns out the guy was not joking. As to whether he'll actually do it, I'd bet my left testicle he won't even walk up there. But to hear someone spray like this...I'm speechless. Supposedly he says stupid shit like this all the time. This however demanded mass ridicule.

I met that cat. I don't believe he can lift his leg high enough to spray, let alone talk shit like that.

tresckow was telling me how there was some kid here in UT saying how he was gonna kick his ass skiing this winter and he's never even seen tresckow ski before. it makes no sense. all you do is make yourself look like a jerk. so weird.

I thought you were going to say the boss wipped out a tape of himself throwing down said trick. And it would turn out that hardriders boss was some sort of super pro from days past. I went to high school with kids who talked shit like this. They always say they said something different when it came time to pay the piper.

Oh, I forgot to add something for the non-Kirkwood maggots.

To the best of my knowledge, Hospital Air has only been done once. By TeleRob.

I remember sitting on a lift with Splat early season when he pointed at Hospital Air and said "Telerob dropped that on tele gear" like it was no big deal.

Jumping off a 100 footer is the same as jumping out of a 10 story building. Whether you're inverted or not doesn't change whether it is sick or not.....on that note........

So, back in the day when I was on the ski team, it somehow came out that a coach of mine could throw down backflips (just for perspective, this was when twisters where still cool). Being the little snot that I was, I kept on ragging on him because I thought he was spewing. Finally, one day while we were on the mountain he stops me, tells me to wait, and proceeds to chuck a backflip off a 20 footer. My jaw just hit the snow.

Funny, I haven't thought about that for years. I still remember watching him disappear below the rock flying through the air upside down. heh. Jeez, back then you didn't even see people do shit like that in the movies. At that time the coolest thing out of Steamboat was Fistful of Moguls.

This makes me smile because I have a wonderful mental image of highschool MD9 "paying the piper" with a crazed grin on his face and then stopping, looking up the hill above the kicker/cliff/etc. at said shit talker and watching them soil themselves.

Yeah that sucked. I went really huge. I blacked out in the air. I crashed down through some aspen tree and luckily my body landed just to the side of the trunk and left a huge crater. My dad took a photo from below. My ski was still up in the tree. I was so happy not to get killed.

I've done it a couple of times. Then and when I was riding my dad's 500cc wheeler (quadzilla :D) down the steepest dunes in North America - Choke Cherry at St. Anthony (Rexburg, Idaho). The choke cherry clumps hold the sand and keeps it super steep. I got out of control and launched through one of the larger clumps. The next thing I know I'm holding onto some branches and the bike is upside down at the bottom of the hill. I don't remember anything past the moment I realized I was screwed while heading into the clump. Weird stuff. I guess I just got way too scared on both occasions and completely freaked.

Oh that's nothing. It's just a stupid crash into a tree. I did that when I was in high school, only I didn't just almost get killed. Yep. Dead as a doornail I was. And I did a backflip just before I got killed.

GT had a quadzilla that took some sort of rocket fuel. It's the only vehicle I've ever driven and that had me completely terrified. His first quadzilla was nasty but this other one was made in Hell. I was happy to give it back to him after a short ride. It seriously took some sort special gas you couldn't buy in our little town. Not sure if it was airplane fuel or demon urine or what, but that bike was FAST!! He had to trim the plastic over the tires because it was causing too much lift. Evil machine. I had a Yamaha Banshee 350cc from about age 13 and that was always the perfect ride for me. The 500 was just too big. GT's got crazy moto stories.

Damn, I've only got one year left of high school. I better start living it up while I'm young. Maybe I can actually get caught in a tree and have to climb down this season.
