Help! Urban adrenal release assistance needed...
OK doods. Need some help here. As you can see from the "Huck" thread...I'm starting to get "itchy"...
I need some adrenaline but this city is so FUCKING FLAT I can't even ride my longboard in traffic (which is what I did in Boston). I have been biking and working out to angry music, but that just doesn't cut it...I have a kite surfing sail and harness, but no board yet, so that's out...took my longboard to the skate park last weekend, not enough speed. Skydiving is too expensive, there is no snow on the landfills, the high dive at the gym is not open to the public, road biking without hills sucks, and there are no trampoline training centers nearby...FACK!
Usually I would just get super drunk and that numbs the need for a bit, but with school and shit I can't afford to be really hungover.
One idea that might work is getting really herbal and taking the longboard to a parking deck...BTW I'm in Chicago.
HELP!

thats why they invented your new passtime -- BASE jumping! enjoy. add skis later and give mcconk a run for his money.
(i lived in chicago for 3 years. after you get past the sadness of waking up from dreams of the rocky mountain front range appearing right behind the chicago skyline, you start making flight reservations. there is no pain like digging your car out of 3 feet of snow you cant ski on. GET OUT!!!)

And now you know precisely why the midwest sucks so bad.

And now you know precisely why people in Chicago drink so much :)
Outside magazine did a story about a year ago about places to go to get away from the city and do outdoorsy stuff. I'm pretty sure Chicago was in there, but I can't seem to find the story on their web site. If you can find the story I'm sure you could get a couple ideas.
Gonzo...here's an idea...

A motorist who allegedly was doing doughnuts in the sand near the North Avenue Beach pier this morning drove his sport-utility vehicle into Lake Michigan and was rescued by officers of the Chicago police Marine Unit.
Driving a green Nissan, the man, whose identity was not disclosed, plunged into water at least 12 feet deep about 10:30 a.m., police said. He got out of the car, started swimming and was plucked from the lake by police about 100 yards offshore.
The driver was conscious and talking to his rescuers when he was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, police said. His medical condition was not immediately available.
Chicago Fire Department divers entered the water to mark the submerged car's location and to make sure no one else was in the vehicle.

Try your local public high school or JC. I used to work in day care during the summer, and once a week we'd take the kids across the street to the pool at the local JC. I think they charged $5, but I got in free since I was working. Either way, it's cheap and you can work on some serious self-inflicted carnage hucking yourself off the high dive.
