my buddy bitched about his poor circulation and the BOA system the whole day... He kept complaining about the top of his foot. He also had a BD rep help mold the liner in Burlington.
This isn't first hand experience so take it with a grain of salt... He could just be a little bitch...
My toes get a little cold when temps hit -12C or below. I have the boots fitted tight and haven't had any real issues with cold feet.
NHTELE - this of no use to your question, but weren't you on Axons last year? How do the Factors compare to them, skiing and skinning wise? I have heard a few people comment that the Boa Liners weren't very warm.
I'm satisfied with the warmth of my Factors.
I have two days on them now. First day was bc, not too cold out maybe 30F. Felt fine, although I could tell there was some circulation issues in the toe box. Second day was inbounds yesterday, about 7F all day. My toes were frozen. I'm still going to blame this on a cramped toe box and not the boot itself.
It was ~0F at beaver creek yesterday, and I had zero warmth issues, even with my slightly-too-tight toe area.
I've had no issues, your buckles over your feet might be to tight.
I wore mine in 5f saturday and my feet were a block of ice:frown: At one point I actually took one boot off to warm my toes up with my hands. At the end of the day when we got back to the truck I had a hell of a time getting my foot out with the shell being so cold and the stupid boa system fuckin with me. The liners felt and skied great but just too cold to be 10 miles away from the truck in. I will be throwing my intuitons in them.
The big thing is that the liner is not as nice. It's not as warm as the intution. Also, the boa does not help circulation.
Can you put an Intuition liner in the Factor? Or does that start to eliminate the overall stiffness of the boot?
My feet have been fine in them but I am comparing them to my ice box plug boots so anything will be warmer then them. I think part of it is that for an AT boot they are very low volume snug fitting boot with the boa that if your not careful you can make to tight. I have found that if I keep the boa snug but not tight and the instep buckles on the loose side my feet have been fine.
Maybe ya'all should ease off the stump pullin' when tightening the BOA.
If you can feel the pressure in your nuts, it's too tight.

My impression visually was that it actually WAS anatomical (unlike most ski boots) in that it was narrow in the back and wider through the front. Like my foot. Saying that any boot isnt anatomical doesnt really make sense to me. Every anatomy is different. Thats why the Factor fits some folks great, while Scarpas fit others great etc...
...and some people don't fit into anything.:(
Yeah when I tried it on I really liked it, but did not love the boa system. I hoped a Factor/Intuition marriage would be the threesome my feet were always hoping to be a part of.
Isn't that half the point of intuitions? I'm very seriously considering intuitions in my factors. The stock liners are twice as heavy and apparently half as warm. BOA is kinda nice for skinning, so you don't get heel blisters, but some tongue intuitions would do quite nicely I think.
I've never used the tongue intuitions but the alpine wraps are definitely warm....too warm for california usually.
I obviously don't have first hand experience but it seems to me a tongue liner wouldn't be as stiff as the power wraps.
I've about a week of time on the factors with BOA liner, all resort days. I've found them to be colder than I would expect for moderate temps 25-30 F. I typically do not suffer from cold feet.
I have not needed to crank the buckles down at all, and even discovered one day that by not having the foot top buckles secured more firmly, I was allowing snow right into the overlap at the top of the toe. After correcting that on subsequent days, the feet didn't get as cold, but still were colder than I think they should have been.
I have not toured in them yet, but I am thinking the BOA liner would be better on a tour, and maybe for cold resort days an intuition liner would be the ticket, since for resort days you do not really need the BOA function at all.

They're very high volume. I have skinny ankles and shins, and wrap intuitions don't have much upper volume. tongues are better, although i prefer power-wraps. BD uses the boa system to account for this high volume fit, but intutions don't work so well.Quote:

I was thinking tongue liner for skinning. I've never used PWs in a touring boot, but I feel like the added stiffness of a wrap liner would make it harder to flex while skinning. I think coupled with the overlap shell, a tongue liner would probably work pretty well both up and down. Other than the BOA system, very unimpressed with the stock liner, and I'd say the jury is still out even on that. I have plug intuitons in my alpine boots, I'll stick them in the factors and try to comment on how much they restrict the walk mode.
