This is a really odd setup for an El Nino pattern. Omega type block over the Great Basin and the NW getting POUNDED! Whistler picked up 165" in the last month. This is pretty much the opposite of what we should be seeing.

^^^ I've said that same thing to some friends lately. Not sure if that will continue to be the winter pattern or if it will shift into a typical El Nino pattern at some point. Omega block can suck my ass!
Way to darken a Friday morning, metioning something as evil, awful, and loathsome as an Omega block. I'll just go cry over my coffee. I have bun in the oven set to be ready in late January. You can be assured it will snow then (not now while I have time to ski)
This is what greets me at the TGR home page. :(
Colorado is due dammit.Quote:
• Whistler Blackcomb breaks all time November snowfall record with 165"
• Stevens Pass Ski area gets slammed with storm and will open on Thursday
• Deepest Opening Day in Mt. Baker History!
Fuckin' winters ruined, this sucks, what a horrible year, ski season is toast, colorado weather sucks, it's never going to snow again, might as well go mountain biking, no snow, this sucks ass, colorado never gets snow, this sucks donkey dingleberry, season is over, this season sucks, global warmingz ruined the season, OMG OMG OMG, FUCK!!!
You don't own a mountain bike. Yer Fukked.
I'm actually pretty stoked, it is shaping up to be a winter like the last two. The snow will come. Plus sunny and 40 degrees is pretty freaking money. Nice to sit on a deck and drink a beer after some skiing. Colorado rulez
We would all like for it to be dumping every night with bluebird days. That being said, yesterday was so $$$$. Great temps, beautiful views, snow was meh but just a great day to be in the mountains.
.LONG TERM...TUESDAY THROUGH SATURDAY...
...A SUNNY AND MILD THANKSGIVING...
well I think a half an inch fell in Eagle Vail, maybe an inch. Doesn't look very promising out there for snow, though I see the NWS forecast:
Today: Snow. High near 29. West northwest wind between 10 and 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. Total daytime snow accumulation of 3 to 5 inches possible.
Need to go take a better look outside, but so far it doesn't look like it's even snowing up high right now. Not sure if we'll get that 3-5". Sure would make for nicer groomers though...
Jeez, almost spit my coffee everywhere when I saw the email from Vail claiming 4 inches (not sure what to think, hike to PHQ?). Will have to go investigate see if there's at least a couple runs before Born Free is scraped back to ice :yourock:
I just bought some new equipment so it pretty much won't snow now for a while.
Edit to add: the CPC's December precip discussion was not optimistic either.
But again, even if this year is "slightly" below average, we still have like 250 inches of snow to fall. :fm:
^^^what is CPC again?
Searched but no luck... I'm looking for historical snowfall data for Colorado. Anyone that can provide links would be a nice person.
CPC = Climate Prediction Center. NOAA's long term forecasters based out of MD (that is Maryland)
