If the CDC does not recommend insurance wont pay for it. Fewer will get the vax. More will get the rona. Just heard the guy with worms in his brain say he did not take vax from anybody because they can pay for it. Then blathered about lack of long term studies of vax data yada yada yada.
Our governor just issued a proclamation that pharmacies do not need a prescription to offer the vaccine. So maybe it will all be good. In any event, I just had covid so there's not much benefit to the vaccine right now.Quote:

Long covid is a thing. I gave never heard of long pneumonia. Plus there's the part where scientists had to be overruled to get to the new guidelines.
Also, flu shots are not age restricted to the olds. So It really makes no sense that Covid should be. That’s the correct analogy not the pneumonia vax
What is the risk that is being assessed? Personal risk? Societal risk? Economic risk? Risk of fatal outcomes? Risks of infections? Risk of new variants due to high societal infection rates? Risk of adverse side effects from the vax? Risk of long term complications from infection?
How’s insurance going to react for people that stretch the truth and claim they have a risk factor in their form?
Quickly looking online, I see the president of the infectious disease society of America stating that the new guidelines “puts the entire American population at risk for severe COVID disease and the complications associated with it.” Many experts are stressing the importance for the vax booster to be easily available for all children. Osterholm has been discussing in interviews the early mistakes of not emphasizing vaxing children because of the response for children to the early variants while omicron has very different severe outcome for children, and there’s unclear outcomes for children with the next variants.

Its always been really easy to check the bloood pressure/ drop in for a vax at the safeway pharmacy when i am buying food & booze, make some vax jokes with the pharmacist cuz he is a sharpguy

That global recommendation graphic is interesting. Seems it sort of obfuscates the issue at hand because it appears to me in at least some of those countries, I checked AU, you can still get a free, no questions asked booster if you are a healthy 18-64 y.o. It's the difference between "eligible" and "recommended". Seems like we are more restrictive because it's going to come out of pocket if insurance companies don't cover pending CDC's recommendations, which will naturally reduce booster uptake.
Prasad has some interesting views, some I disagree with, like the Gov's CoVID response was comparable to the rise of the 3rd Reich and some I do, like conducting large scale CoVID vaccine trials, moving the vaccines out of EUA and using scientific evidence to make medical decision.

Point of note. Wife and I (54 and 50) received flu and covid jabs at CVS this morning as we have done every year since the pandemic. We both checked the box so we qualified. My box might or might not be questionable, but no questions were asked.
Daughter (15) was unable get her covid shot at CVS but did get her flu shot. We will try Walgreens for her. She has a bit of a cough right now so probably better to wait anyway.
Insurance seemed to click through just fine. No payment was required.
I've seen people comment on Bluesky that Iowa is one of the easier states to get the jab right now.
This right here is why the anti-vax movement gets foreign funding--it's a really solid investment for those competing with the US. how its always worked in BC is they announce vax is available for the old folks 1st, you dont just go wily nily getting stabbed by a random pharmascist every shots is tracked by your BC medical # so big brother knows every shot you got and every bit of free medical treament you recieve
I heard they will even be giving shots to Albertans cuz their Trump wanabe premier is charging 100$ for them claiming vax were thrown away and wasted but why not just organize it better instead of playing to the whacko nut jobs ?
