Inslee extends pause for reopening
WAOLYMPIA – Washington Gov. Jay Inslee is extending the pause on reopenings to July 28 because of increasing COVID-19 cases.
“This pandemic is still raging in the state of Washington,” he said.
Inslee said the number of people in their 20s getting the disease is increasing and that is a major concern. He added young people need to take steps to reduce the disease because it spreads to older and more vulnerable people.
He said face covering compliance is rising and that will help slow the spread of the virus.
Inslee cited Yakima County, which had a major increase in cases, as proof that masks work.
“Yakima County case numbers are actually declining since this masking effort started,” he said.
With positive cases, along with hospitalization rates on the rise, Inslee said more restrictions may be necessary to bring the case counts down.

I will say that Cuomo didn't have to factor in the number of armed citizens to confront as Inslee would have. Cuomo didn't have the local lawmen telling him that they wouldn't follow the law. A little apples to crab apples.

COVID-19 hits Morrow County Public Health
Morrow County Public Health Department (MCPHD) reminds residents that COVID-19 can affect anyone. Three of its staff members have symptoms of COVID-19. One tested positive for COVID-19 and had close contact with the other two staff members who are ill. The two close contacts are presumed to have COVID-19 and are included in the county’s overall case count.
All three staff members are home in isolation, as recommended by Oregon Health Authority (OHA) guidance. During the on-going investigation it was determined that the employee who tested positive had contact with a recently confirmed positive case in the community. Due to Public Health’s limited contact services, no clients have been identified as at-risk of exposure.
“Morrow, like many Oregon counties, is seeing an increase in COVID-19 cases” said Shelley Wight/Communicable Disease Coordinator “These cases are appearing in all parts of society-long term care facilities, food and agricultural facilities, worksites of all kinds- in addition to social gatherings like backyard barbecues and exercise classes. It’s no surprise that even local public health staff and offices are impacted.”
Public Health learned about the first infection over the weekend and moved swiftly to protect its staff, clients and the community. The other two cases were located during the investigation. Due to the high infectious rate of COVID-19, Morrow County Health Department is closed to the public for the next two weeks for sanitizing and deep cleaning. While our offices will be closed to walk-in services, phone support will continue to be available at 541-676-5421.
We have partnered with Umatilla County Public Health for client support and needed services, please call 541-278-5432 to make an appointment. OHA is providing support to Public Health with case investigations and contract tracing, these will continue without interruption.
The places with the most new daily cases, also have some of the lowest deaths per million (Texas, Florida, California).
And some of the most new daily cases also have very high levels of testing relative to other parts of the USA.

I go back that night and they have them back in stock but they now tell me that they are requiring doctors visits for everyone they test, so I'll need to come inside and get a physical, obviously wanting to have something more to bill my insurance. I have no desire to sit in one of the little examination room where they are putting everyone coming in for tests, so I decline.
Next I go and make an appointment at a drive through place in a neighboring town. Their procedure was great. I never had to get out of the car and interaction was via cue card, phone, and them passing the kit through my cracked window with one of those mechanical arm extenders.
But now I won't get my results for 5 to 10 business days. So up to two weeks, and at the least one. That's not really very helpful from a containment perspective. Even if people are positive, they're going to be through the vast majority of the contagious stage before they even know, and contact tracing is going to be much harder given the time lag. It's just another example of our system not being up to this task.
^^^^ that’s ridiculous. And yet there are 24 hour saliva tests out there (my friend’s kid took one in NJ before going to a week overnight camp). Why the fuck haven’t those or something like them been mass produced via the Defense Production Act?
Yeah, my ex got her results in 48 hours, same with her other kid just to make sure she only had Croup.
