I don’t fish, but my FIL has a rod setup inside his SUV so that he can carry them without breaking them down, so I guess there’s a benefit there.

Also, my neighbor was out fishing yesterday, but TBF there’s not actually snow in Tahoe yet…

As I once told a mag who was contemplating buying one, rod vaults are extremely effective way to spend $500 to let everyone know you fly fish.

It takes me ~ 5 minutes to rig a fly rod. Unless you are a guide hauling clients, there is no reason for them.

I can fit assembled 9’ and 9’6” rods inside my outback without a problem. Two people and four assembled rods might get a little messy though.

I saw a Nissan GOTOS rig today with the biggest, baddest snorkel I've ever seen. On the Driver's side. WTAF?!?!? That thing blocks more view than a 4x8 sheet of plywood. It made the LandRover one look inadequate. I couldn't get a pic. That Nissan definitely had a decent score with all the other shit.

Just try convincing any truck or suv owner that their vehicle is dangerous to themselves and other road users, though. They all seem to think that they "need" their truck. Even in our own "trucks" thread there are endless examples of people who buy full-sized trucks to carry their kids and occasionally pull a raft trailer or some bullshit.

I backed into a car with our SUV a while back. I can't even tell which part of our rig dented the car. My insurance company wanted to repair our vehicle too and I couldn't show them anything needing repair. The cascading events that led to the "accident" were stupid and ultimately a prime example of "no good deed goes unpunished". I hate the parking garage at the Rideau Center in Ottawa. And I'm still not a big fan of the Toyota Highlander with it's huge blindspots. Even the backup camera has a blindspot.

You could park a block or two away in Byward Market, maybe pick up a Beaver Tail for the walk to the mall.

Ya, there's a public garage in spitting distance of the mall exit we used to get to Byward Market. We parked in said Byward public garage last September. The elevators and stairwells reaked of piss. So we gave the mall a try. Fucking hell.
