Maggette Utarded Bike Coordination Thread

I had a lot of fun this morning riding with the Maggettes and Big Blue. Big Blue, by the way, is a strong rider.

One of the guys that I knew on the trail asked if tradygirl was my wife. He said "Damn, she's a strong rider." I said the only thing in common was their first name. Then he asked if she was available; to which, I said he should ask Josh.

Liz, I'm sorry. But I laughed really hard when I saw that photo. Of course, it was a sympathetic laugh. It didn't look anything like that in the car, no wonder you said it hurt.

I'm happy to say that I cleaned Puke Hill non-stop. :)
However, I less than pleased about the comprehensive cleaning I got on the spine. :eek:
Next time I'll either do some recon first or walk the damn thing as I have for the past twenty years. :rolleyes:

OUCH!! That's far worse than my recent rotor burn on my back from an endo....still not sure how my rotor managed to end up on my back....It's been about 3 weeks now, and the skin finally grew back. blech. Hopefully, yours isn't as deep of a burn.

We should start a magette injury thread....since we've all had a few this summer.

Liz, I too must apologize for laughing out loud when I saw the picture. As IG said, it didn't look that bad in the car, but man it looks like it hurts now! :eek: Lots of ice. UtSG - how did you manage a rotor burn on your back? That's awesome!

Big monkey off the back for sure. IG - tell your friend that I have a husband that was beating himself up in the heat in the e100 this morning. How can you not love a man like that?? Thanks for the ego boost anyway. :D

Monday morning is on for the Millcreek loop! Considering how hot it was this morning by 10:00, I would vote for meeting at the bottom of Millcreek to shuttle cars by 9:00 at the latest. I could be persuaded for later, but that's just my $0.02.

Depending on the shuttle situation, you guys could probably meet at the crest trailhead on guardsman.

Not sure if James is riding too, I think he's supposed to work...I could trade him cars, and would have 4 racks.

If it doesn't bother the ladies too much, I'd love to get in on this too on Monday morning. I was talking logistics with Josh P, but it may also be easier to coordinate with other PC folks. We'll see.

BTW, heres a shot of Josh P, before embarking on his 20+ mile stage in the middle of the day's heat, at low-ish altitudes, with absolutely zero shade. Good work man.

Thanks for taking me out this morning. I had a great time riding with you all. AC, that burn in gnarly. I think a burn like that makes you officially hardcore.

I guess I kinda assumed it was a mixed gender thing Monday from other conversations, I'm cool with that, grin. Maybe wrong thread then? Oops... where's the Utarded coordination thread when we need it?

(And Liz, I know the feeling, and still laughed so sorry, but have burned my leg numerous times after a ride when it's time to raise my seat, standing with the leg right next to the brake. Yes, that's right, I'm a slow learner. :D)

PC folks, you could meet us at Guardsman as long as we have enough room/cars to get you all back up there after we bottom out in Millcreek. My count is 3 PC folks so far, right? We would need at least two cars meeting at the bottom of Millcreek in the morning, both able to carry four bikes (that would be us and UtSG/James?). We can carry four bikes and four-five (tight) peeps in the Tacoma. I guess we can finalize logistics by phone/PM tomorrow.

BTW: It looks like Josh was about to puke before he even started the race. And I'm proud that he went with the spandex. Nice.

Since this has been deemed gender-neutral, I'd be interested in joining y'all Monday morning. I live in SLC, have a car with 3 racks on it, and don't mind shuttling.

Where and when would be the best place to meet?

Include Ski Monkey in that count of PC people too. If need be, we can meet down there, just have to get up earlier :eek: , and we can carry 4 bikes. So, if we don't have enough, let us know.

Otherwise, we'll meet you at Guardsman (how long after you meet?), as long as we get directions or a guide (LDD?) to show us where to go. Grin.

I might be interested in joining the masses for some Crest love tomorrow. But I say we meet even earlier (7:30), given it'll be another 45 minutes at least until we start riding. Riding Pipeline flatness in heat = no fun at all.

So...ya'll know that I'm not much of a morning person, but after riding the pipeline today in the god awful heat, I'd be up for meeting at the bottom of Millcreek at 7:30 too.

I would love to ride the crest with a mob of 50 bikers. I have a vehicle that can take five bikes and one passenger. I think that the earlyer the better. I rode the crest on saturday and ther were alot of folks on the trail by 8:00. Especially when we got into millcreek. What do you think about 7:00?

I would like to join the hord of maggots attacking the Crest tomorrow morning. Considering the oppressive heat, I would say that an earlier meeting time, i.e. 7:00 or 7:30, at the mouth of Mill Creek canyon (two words is proper; signed, recently resigned Chairman, East Mill Community Council) is wise. In my perfect little world, I'd catch a ride up with someone and ride home after after coming down the canyon. I could then give a two or three PC folks a ride back to PC as I have to go to my office tomorrow.

The PC Mags may want to consider coming over Guardsman and parking at the gate around 7:30 or 8:00.

Oh, and I'd suggest ya'll go as early as possible. Otter is right, there were loads of people on the trail even before 8am.

I can haul three bikes and five people in a pinch. Traffic wasn't to bad with A9:00 start today but it was a little toasty.

Since I semi-started this thread, I'm making an executive decision for the early start (it was stupid hot again today). SL mags meet at 7:00 at the little parking lot on the west side of Wasatch Blvd at the bottom of Mill Creek Canyon. PC mags, meet at the Guardsman bend-in-the-road at 7:30. I think we should have enough cars to figure everything out in the morning.

I'd like to join yas! Anyone have any extra sprocket lugs? If thats what they are called. I lost a few last crest and haven't been to the shop yet. Little help.

I'm looking for the small allen screws with the back threads that attach your front chain ring or rock ring to one another. If you have them let me know and I'll show. If not I'll be at the shop tomarrow.

As always, it was great to meet some new mags - utsnowgirl (love that pink Motolite.) and JoshP.

I'm a little ti-ti right now, think I'm going to take a nap.

Indeed a good ride. Its great to watch strong technical riders do their thang, although I suspect my lack of rippage on the spine is more related to my lack of willingness to just sack up.

Either way, nice to get out there and beat the heat. Also, compared to my other Crest rides, especially down into Mill Creek, today was remarkably un-crowded. That was good to see.

Awesome awesome day, the early start was definately worth it when the horrendous hot gusts started to hit us towards the end.

Glad to finally hit it up, losing my Crest virginity. Cool peeps, great company, fun pace (mostly, to this pedalling weenie, ;)), beautiful scenery, and less crowded than I'd expected for sure. Home by noon, perfecto!

Thanks for the ride back up the canyon ut.. :)

I had a blast today. Fun to ride with a posse, love saying "NINE BACK" to people going the other way and seeing their reaction.
Great to meet CS, InspectorGadget, and Rotorhead.
Next time we'll have to do the Mill D version, I have a feeling Yentna and Ski Monkey would dig it.

I'd like to keep doing a Crest ride at least once a week, but am up for anything really.

I'm free Wed, Thurs, Fri or Sat this week. Post here if you want to ride.

Maybe a quick quarry ride tonight....I'd like to get to PC one evening and possibly a crest ride too. I'm done with classes for a month, so am much more available. :)

I'm free to ride Fri afternoon (post 5:30ish if in PC, post 6:30ish if in SLC) and Sunday pretty much all day, stands for this week at least...

I could possibly get out on Thursday. I'd love to go up to PC since I haven't ridden much up there. Also, I've been wanting to check out the Solitude singletrack.

I have time for a Crest to Mill D on Friday after work.

Anyone else want to join in? I can't get to Mill D till at least 6:30-7ish.
