Hit Sunrise Bowl again this morning before work. The cold temps overnight sucked some moisture out of the snow so it was actually better than yesterday...

kirkwood opens friday. right now they have race course/outlaw park etc. it looks like with cold temps they could possibly have lower zack as well by then. buckboard and other stuff off 11 looks good with another 6" so that could be in the near future. the stuff around timber creek looked surprisingly good. like they could open friday good and they have the big gun blowing at the base.

That was from Tuesday morning so it was already buried by the 8 inches of blower that fell Tuesday night / Wednesday morning. Per S.A.C. it sounds like it hasn't been an issue and the layer of concern was from the week before.Quote:

Things are currently resetting in a huge way though and those problems will disappear as will the crowds. especially on the south side of the lake where we have been getting the short end. this storm is gonna be a game changer giving us options beyond Round Top/sisters and opening huge chunks of resorts (should get kirkwood open top to bottom).

Hit Kirkwood yesterday for first laps of the season. Good day to work out the legs with a bunch of quick laps since only a few runs off of 5 were open. Venturing off of race course and lower zachs found pretty thin cover. Stayed pretty cold through the day and snow started coming down around 3ish. This last dump should get 11 open but I think another is needed to open terrain off of 6, looked like it needed quite a bit up top still. They were working on chair 6 all day. Seems like it is ready to go.
Yay me if it stays down all day. Looking to get my first turns of the season tomorrow. A.M. reported 24" overnight up top and Squaw 14". Someone is a liar.Quote:

All the lower mountain trees are mostly open, and if you know the right traverses there is still long fresh lines between the switchbacks, if you ski lightly over the logs.
Legs and stomach gave out before the pow did.

First day of the season for me today at Sierra. The storm last night exceeded all expectations! Sierra reported 24" up top but only had lower half of mtn open. Seems like they weren't prepared for as much snow as they got and only had a couple mellow runs open. Can't complain though, any day I can get after 1.5ft of pow is a good day, especially in November on day 1! I'm assuming more terrain will open up this week.
will my snowblades float in this pow you all keep talking about?
does any one have skins for snowblades?
Pro tip: Assuming you're a serious snowblader and have a quiver of snowblades, buy regular length skins and cut them into multiple sets. Just one set of skins designed for those goofy long skis gives you enough coverage for your whole blade quiver! Much better value than the snowblade specific skins. Those are smaller and cost more!
