Well this is where the snowball started growing. Noticed a few too many carpenter ants during demo. Ledger was face nailed over the LP siding I’d replaced when I first bought the house. I’d cut around and added flashing when residing but the ants had me very worried about damage lurking behind the ledger. On top of that the the 6x6 PT posts were direct buried in concrete and wiggling too much so they were not lasting more than another five years.
Conclusion. Demo it all. Rebuild bigger better and with care to detail so it will last.

Luckily no major ant damage. Some molded out and water damaged osb had to get excised and carpenter ants were traveling into the wall cavity so that a nice contained dose of legacy chlordane circa 1988.
Sealed everything back up with lots of vycor flashing. New ledger got installed with these slick DECK2WALL spacers for each lag/spax screw. No water tapped behind now.

Slightly overkill build for the spans needed but used all 2x10 pt. Double rim joist got a 2x12 added to accommodate the stair hangers. Top surface of all PT beams got flashed with Vycor. New deck dims ~20’x10 (10x12 before)

Worst part was excavating and leveling the stair landing along with removing the stump of the 10” wide cypress that i has already cut down. Pick axe and sawzall got a lot of action.

Once framed pace picked up a bit. Decided to add a bench seat. Big fan of the new ThruLok all in one through bolts. Slick.

Decking is a combo of 5/4” x 6”Ipe and Tigerwood. Tiger is pre edge milled for clips. All other fasteners got covered with plugs.
Added some 24v recessed led lights to the stairs and tied it into the landscape lighting transformer.

Rented a floor sander and after a combo of 60 and 80 grit. Stained it with Cutek Exteme in their walnut color tone.

I found an older Herman Miller adjustable desk on CL for cheap. Heavy AF. Popped the top and threw a butcher block on top. Bombproof sit stand with lightning fast adjustment and no electric motor (giant garage door spring in the cross member) for less than a quarter of the original cost.

Floor joists in, varmint sealed with steel wool, 1x2 strips and foam, first layer of insulation cut and fitted:

R-13 backed fiberglass rolled insulation next before screwing in the subfloor.
Not sure what thickness rigid insulation you have there
Standard underfloor R-value is R-30
so, if you can get more the R-13 in there, do so
money well spent and you won’t have to worry about it afterwards
It's only 1/2" styrofoam, so R value of about 4. Floor joists are 2x6; guess I'll have to exchange.
