Certainly makes sense. The amount of settling around trees has been huge with noticeable gaps on the downhill side. the snowpack is alive. also all the creeks in the area have been flowing at a good clip throughout even the coldest parts of januburied.

I have seen and experienced the thing that powdork points out, which were big crowns (like 5-9 feet when the slide occurred) where there has been filled in me we're kinda funky. Different time and different place.
Schralp, were the glide cracks over granite slabs?
Lots of those big cracks in Wagon Wheel bowl...from the cornice weight (usually there every year off the top) but also where the slope begins to mellow out below the Funnel. You know, because that massive storm buried cliffs. :)
Hopefully resorts will still be open May 11-12 because the Amgen Tour of California Women's race is scheduled for around Tahoe and over Luther Pass those days--Amgen Tour events have been a reliable predictor of snow in past years.

Thanks for the FYI. As long as we don't hop under the boundary ropes in Killebrew we should be fine though right? Anyone hitting that with me will be able to handle most anything. I am more concerned with ending up somewhere where we need to hike a mile or more to get back to a chair.

Heavenly and South Lake are great places for a bachelor party. Enjoy your time with the groom-to-be, hit the casinos with reckless abandon, and poke around at the Heave to find something your crew likes skiing. I'm not sure if they offer it, but many resorts around Tahoe provide free or cheap group "tours" (not really lessons) that will show you around the mountain so you're not just flailing around. If you really want to get rad, a group lesson (call ahead to let them know what you want to ski) might not be a bad idea.

Heavenly is massive...to get the most out of it...explore both Cali and Nevada top to bottom. You'll get views of the lake on the Cali side and expansive desert views on the Nevada side. Killebrew Gate B skiing in the direction of Gate A is probably only the real 'extreme' terrain where you could fall off a cliff etc. Otherwise Mott Canyon is short, steep and sweet..but probably a ton of moguls. If insanely crowded I'd stay near the Mott/Killebrew area which can also be accessed by taking laps via Dipper. Olympic chair is a great early morning groomer chair before the crowds come. Be prepared for some flat spots traversing the mountain...so if you have boarder friends...keep that in mind.
