I once emptied the woodstove ashes into a metal bucket and put it out in the drafty garage. That was a bad idea. The neighbors also did this and lost their house a decade earlier.

I used to put it outside but all those years of no problems have bred laziness.

My GF works in IT and has fantastic technical problem solving skills. Super refreshing, though I catch myself mansplaining shit to her all the time. What’s doubly refreshing is that she rarely calls me on that.

As someone who heats with wood, you would be shocked how long a couple of coals can stay hot in a pile of ashes. I've seen it 5 or 6 days after cleaning out the stove. But you do you.

Just today, I got a mini-rant about how I don't make much of an effort to dry my hands after washing dishes, so all of a minute later when she asks me to get something off a high shelf, ugh he still has wet hands. Whatever; my small contribution to humidifying the airspace.

Yep...I get this all the time from my wife. I usually ask if it’s actually multitasking when the 5 different things being done only get completed to 60% vs one being done to 100%. That usually earns me a solid glare.

I'm often told I move at the speed of molasses when trying to get out of the house or such. I've pointed out that finishing one task before starting the next take time--like emptying the dishwasher rather than taking out the two items you need Right Now and then forgetting the rest is clean and putting dirty stuff in and needing to run it again--but it's more efficient in the end.

The end result is that not only am I slow as molasses, but I take too long to explain why.

Ms Boissal was a serious gamer before we met. She's dangerously IT savvy and tends to be the one mocking me for using dated tech.
She just gained access to the app that controls the thermostat. For the past year or so I've told her I somehow couldn't add her as a user and she didn't pursue it. She finally called me on my shit after I turned down the heat from 74 about 1 minutes after she cranked it up. Not an option any longer and I bet it's only a matter of days til she changes all passwords and locks me out of thermostat control forever...
I'm glad we don't have a fireplace and she's uninterested in my handheld vacuum though...
