Yeah, I have the cops perform a wellness check on him every now and again.
But thanks for reminding me to circle back on this. It was a case of an email sent does not always equal an email received. FTP offered to send me another pair a size larger, even though I no longer had the gloves to send back. Told them it was not necessary as the price paid vs price sold for was not a big deal, this was just a miscommunication, and I'd leave it up to them if they wanted to or not. They opted to send a pair out, and I hope I like them as that's good stuff on their part.
In case it helps anybody, FTP indicated that while the glove would stretch they didn't think it would stretch in a way that the stitching would lie lower on the wrist. Cheers.
I swapped my large for XL and found that they are much warmer. Solid gloves that I would recommend for the price. I can even fit fleece liners if it gets below 5 degrees.
PSA: 25% off on all but the Rx series: http://www.freethepowder.com/collections/gloves
I was unaware of the Rx gloves - a burlier (gauntlet only) version with removable liners.
Cheers,
Thom
I ordered a pair of large gloves and thought they were a little tight. They were tighter than my Hestra size 9 gloves. Customer service has been excellent and in helping me swap to XL (I also decided to go with mittens).
Trigger pulled on the RX Mit and glove... I have been using Swany Leather mits for several years and really liked them... Only complaint is they do not breath at all and hands can get pretty sweaty quick... These look like they can eliminate that issue and counting on the praise they are getting from this community...
My $40 blems rival my $140 Hestras..
Let it Snow!
I'm in for 2prs because of this thread.....
So pumped for them... Skiing at Bach and brought two pairs of mits because of the wet sweaty issue... The removable liners on the RX and breathable top layer make this a no brainer... Saw your comments on them MPPG as well as the other Mags so easy decision...
Another shout out. Now have mitts and short cuffs with long cuffs for the wife. Great quality. Warm. Customer service is over the top helpful making sure the fit is right. Planning to pick up the mountain bike offering when they are available.
I picked up a pair of long cuff originals in size large but they feel damn tight. All the literature says they stretch / pack out and soon become roomier... Any first hand corroboration? I hesitate to wear them if they won't loosen up as I'm sure they'd move quicker in gear swap if still pristine.
So, wear them and they'll soon feel as comfy as my favorite jeans or pass them along and try again with XLs?
Yep, they pack out a bit. I'm in L with 8.5" measurement around my hand and mine went from Very snug to perfect in a few days. Finger length happens to be right for me in L, too; might be worth noting that before you decide.
I never win anything and I won a pair at bbi16. Before it started I thought maybe once I'll get lucky and win the gloves. I was considering doing the blemishes anyway so I couldn't be happier.
I just ordered the short cuff glove in an XL. I hope the fingers are long enough
I luv me sum free the powder gloves.
ordered some mitts today, within an hour of my order,i was notified they went out.my FTP gloves are toasty warm, figured for 49.00 shipped might as well have some mitts just in case the temps get back to 10 below like last year.
Do you know a good place to post two heli-skiing packages I am trying to get rid of?
I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say, not in the FTP glove thread.
My experience is that they pack out just a wee bit - like your favorite jeans in the sense that they start to flex more easily (but not in the sense that they get larger). I was asking the same question about mine, but mine didn't feel as tight as you're reporting.
From your description, I'd go the next size up.
Cjeers.

Just received my FTP RX Mitt and short cuff glove and am beyond impressed... I wear XL in other brands and an 11 in Hestras and the XL fit perfectly... Like others have said the fit on the glove is snug, but I like it and the fit will be perfect with some break in... However, the Mitt is an absolute home run for me and am stoked to use them on a storm day... Regardless of the price the finish was second to none... Once again the MAG community hooked me up...
Recently got a pair of these gloves as well, (the blems). I find the fit pretty true to most other gloves. They are a touch warm for NW touring in my opinion, but great for gravity fed skiing!
I fit a 10 Hestra pretty perfectly which looks like it puts me right between sizes for these. Any advice?
Also how does the softshell portion of the glove hold up in real stormy and wet conditions. I've always used the waterproof XCR hestras, so curious about the day difference.
Duff, if you are going the glove route I would def do the XL... I have the Seth 3 Finger Pro and the 10 fit, but was on the tight side and the 11 worked better for me... The XL FTP is def on the snug side (not uncomfortable, but snug) and since others have stated they pack out the fit should be spot on for me... I honestly have never felt a glove like this before...
And to your point regarding the softshell this is the reason for me buying this glove... I only use all leather gloves (Hestra Seth and Swany Mitt) and both gloves have worked for me to some degree... The biggest issue is they do not breath at all and sometimes even in cold temps my hands will sweat with the end result being cold hands... My buddy who had the same Swanys lost them and replaced them with a pair of Oakley mitts that had leather palms and a softshell top and never ran into the sweaty hands issue like the Swanys... He never put any conditioner on the softshell and never had any instance of wet hands...
I will find out tonight how the mitts work as I am skiing and the high will be 5 degrees...
I just had to bump this thread. Just ordered a pair of the long cuffs a couple hours ago... they are already shipped. This company fucking rocks.
Looks like they have a bunch of factory seconds up right now. I just grabbed a pair of mittens as a gift. Tough deal to pass up at $40 shipped. We'll see how they work out.
The only flaw I can ID on my first pair of 'seconds' - one of the logo patches isn't as straight as the other, spun around a tad.
Great gloves.

What's the difference between the short cuff and SX?
Removable liners and more leather on the back of the fingers it looks like.
those mx gloves look cool for skinning or handling a rope. Does the leather hold up to that kind of use/abuse?
Also, are the mittens a little more pliable than the OG gloves? I like mine but I don't feel like i can really grip anything besides a ski pole but that's my only complaint. Warm enough, waterproof enough, quite a deal.
Just took mine out for the first test drive today (short cuff gloves, blems). So far so good. Warm, dry, was able to easily transition from touring mode to split mode without taking gloves off. A little stiff, but i guess they will break in.
There's a good explanation here: http://www.tetongravity.com/forums/s...48#post4864048
