Freaking Awesome! Just ordered a pair of the SX's. Have been eyeing your gloves for a while and this was the perfect excuse to pull the trigger!

Picked up some SX mittens for the wife two weeks too early for the mag deal, but was so impressed with the quality of the SX/RX line I just now grabbed a pair of the SX gloves for myself to complement my first gen short cuff gloves. Thanks FTP!

What's the difference between the regular short cuffs and the SX ones?

Biggest difference would prolly be the removable liners in the SX versus fixed liners in the regular ones. The X series also has softer material on the back of the thumb, leashes, and it seems that the SX cuffs aren't as bulky around the wrist as the originals (for the mittens at least). Supposed to have all-around better build quality and thicker leather.

Aesthetically speaking, I like the yellowish hue to the leather compared with the natural/nude of the originals and whether more functional or not, I prefer how the leather wraps further around the back of the fingers on the SX. The "FTP" stamped on the back of the index finger adds a nice touch as well.

Haven't received my SX gloves yet to compare fit, but I was told that they have a wider opening at the wrist but will otherwise fit similarly. It didn't really bother me, but the originals were a little tight going on even though they fit my hand fine once they were on.

I ordered the RX last year and loved them, but would have preferred a short cuff... As soon as they put up the SX I ordered a pair and am completely stoked... The removable liner is absolute money and made drying a breeze... My Hestras have been retired...

I got the long cuff glove last year and was happy. Except my hands are getting colder these days so I started using mittens on the colder resort days. So just bought the RX mitten.

    Dear Mags,

Thank you very much for all the support. Thanks also to the Mags for answering questions about our gloves, especially those pertaining to the difference between the SX and original Short Cuff Glove. The SX has a more durable design, thicker leather, removable liners, micro-fiber thumbs to wipe your nose, and glove leashes. In regards to the question about the mountain bike gloves for backcountry winter use/hiking, they are specifically designed for maximum air flow, which means no water-proofing and not wind-resistant.

We have not chosen to go to production on spring/hike gloves due to our 100% focus on cold weather gloves, but we’re considering them for future production.

    Thanks,

    Free the Powder

Eskido do it... Honestly a no brainer and even if they were full price I would still do it... I have Seth lobster Hestras and FTP are so much warmer... Not as dexterous, but I would go with the glove than...

Bump. Need new gloves. I wear size 9 Hestra. I have bigger palms, shorter fingers. Do I buy Large?

    Thanks.

Edit to add: Mag discount still good?

I made this comment in the FTP Blem PSA thread from November, and at least one other person seemed to agree:

For reference, I'm between an 8 and 9 Hestra depending on the model (my hand circumference is 8 5/8", hand length just over 7"). I initially went with the large short cuff gloves, and ended up exchanging down to the medium. The fingers, especially the thumb, was just way to long for my stubby fingers with the large. The body of the large fit just fine around my hand, however. With the mediums, the length of the fingers are perfect, and even though it was a bit tight around my hand at first, it has since broken in perfectly and now fits....well, like a glove.
Since then, I picked up a pair of the SX gloves as well. Compared with my OG short cuffs, if anything, the fingers (and especially the thumb) may be a bit longer. Also could be that the SXs are brand new and the other ones are well broken-in.

So I'd lean towards going with the medium for max dextrousness

I'm an 11 in Hestra and went XL. Perfect fit. That being said, err on the large size is what seems to be the collective sentiment.

I have to give Free the Powder's customer service 2 thumbs up too. USPS lost the first package they sent me, but FTP got a new one in the mail almost as soon as I noticed (the USPS tracking page said it had been delivered in Utah...I'm in Canada).

Found the lower limit of comfort today, -4 at Breckenridge w/ windchill of -17. While riding up the T-Bar my fingers were barkin' but quite honestly most every other glove would also have been cold. Still love them.
