I've never had any significant ski damage in my many October ski outings over the last couple decades -- just pick the trails you know that have the right characteristics, keep the speed under control, and you'll be fine.
Basically, it's in the same category as your aversion to helmets, modern ski touring gear, snow tires, boot crampons, and self-arrest ski pole grips ... or IIRC did you completely change your mind on those final two items that you previously denounced?

actually there's all kinds of wrong^^^^^^^^^there. I use modern touring gear. more versatile gear than tech gear even. i'm a huge fan of snow tires on 2 wheel drive vehicles. 4 wheel/all wheel drive. not so much. waste of money, imo. I've used a whippet and crampons for years. so only the helmet thing and half of the snow tire thing:D

Sincere thanks for the clarification on the snow tires. (I didn't read that thread very carefully at all.) I still disagree, but at least your position there has at least some rationale.
However, plate bindings are simply not modern ski touring gear. For slackcountry, sure, they're fine. But they're horrible for ski touring. (I've actually used both types of gear, and even still own both types.)
And yes, I know you've used a Whippet and boot crampons for years now ... after many years of denouncing them. So, see, there's potential for you to actually try modern ski touring gear too!

a binding that I can tour all day on, then bash moguls at the loaf all day with zero issues of ski megabend pre release like with tech binder, then ski on absolute icy boiler plate without the binding/ski chattering my fillings loose like with a non elastic tech binder, my plate binder is far superior and more versatile to the binders you preach, imo. we are both entitled to our own opinion.:)

I've never understood the idea of no snow tires on 4wd. Snow tires are for braking and keeping traction at speed.

If anyone is looking for a cheap pair of good AT boots and has a wide 27.5 sized foot, I will be selling my Titans soon. They are 314 mm with Intuitions molded once and have a booster strap. The outer part of the foot has been stretched from just behind the pinky toe to almost down from the front of my shin, the ball of the foot has also been blown out in the inside. Completely functional, but they have seen probably 100+ days. Not selling until I get my Vulcans dialed and I can already hear my bootfitter cursing me that I am not racing anymore...

I've owned many and currently 4wd/awd and have NEVER wished I had snows on in even the sketchiest winter driving. I never really put myself into a position where I need to slam the brakes tho. it's just forward/cornering traction I need/have needed.

I agree, never felt the need to put winter tires on my 4x4, and I go LOOKING for the snow.

what are snowtires?

Snows? Well there is one rationale....make that two, that you missed.

1) being a cheapskate, I find that I get more miles out of my "all-seasons" when they spend the winter months in the basement. It delays the need to replace by as much as three years. The snows last a good long while, three seasons or more.

2) The rubber compound of modern better quality snows is better suited to colder temps than the compound of the better quality "all-seasons". Consequently, even though the tread pattern should cost some grip on dry roads (due to flex and wider grooves reducing contact), it doesn't, especially below freezing.

Then there is the grip in the unplowed snow....
