Fairly certain this does not make you faster down the line. Manny has played in October 4 times now, still no ring. Yeah, he's got a great WAR stat but I have to wonder how the hustle players on his team feel when they see Bubble Boy taking the day off during the World Series. There were several times his I don't give a fuck attitude cost the Dodgers a hit or extra bases. If he's like this in his prime, I'm sure he'll be a great teammate during his decline.
That picture may have cost him millions.
congrats to the sox, they played great ball all season long. lots of likeable players on the roster. next year will be fun with the best two teams in mlb playing in the AL east as usual.
machado is a better player than didi but contracts matter about as much as ability. unfortunately, didi is going to miss half a season next year, we’ll see how the yanks value that.
Man I miss baseball already, I watched the shit out of this season, probably 100 games at least.
oh well

You guys are clueless about Machado. From all accounts I’ve heard his teammates all like him. All the sketchy stuff he’s done has been directed towards the other team. Do you think the owners will hold that against him? They’re assholes too, they probably love it. He might not get $400m, but he’ll get more than Harper
I doubt his teammates love that shit. And I'm sure the owners don't: what are the odds he gets beaned hard and/or suspended next year? How about 3 years from now when his skills start to degrade, assuming the dirty shit doesn't improve? If I were writing the check, I'd view that stuff as a liability.
Having said that, he's arguably the best hitting shortstop in the game. He will get paid.
Glad to see you've seen the light, but am I right in sensing just a tiny hint of bitterness?
No denying this was a uniquely talented and cohesive unit. I hate to say it, but it reminds me of the Yankees in 1998 who were so dominant. Except the Sox are way more likeable...
This is pretty good:
He's not as good as Pujols or Arod. It sort of makes sense to sign someone who is young and historically good for 10 years, because even if they decline, they're likely to still be pretty good. DIdn't work out with Pujols, but it did with Arod (As much as I loathe the guy, the Ranger's contract was a good one. The Yankees extension was stupid though). But Machado has a career OPB of .335, which is fine but nothing special. When the power fades he'll become an albatross.
Eovaldi should get paid more than Machado. Lost a bit of respect for MM this post-season. Come to think about it, I thought much more highly of him when I only saw his highlights if at all.
Eovaldi is a stud
I am a fan.
Machado’s a better fielder than Arod. Pujols was 32 when he signed the big deal. Manny’s 26
