For me the difference is 97% of the time when the rope drops in NoAm. it's been bombed to shit and then ski cut etc, so a significantly reduced chance of sliding. The chances of them kicking off a slide onto me is definitely lower after all the bombing than in Yurp where its basically impossible to bomb everything as mentioned above so if going off the groomer you have to consider it as OB in NoAM and therefore not been bombed/ski cut. That is a different calculus, at least for me. Yes, post control slides happen in NoAm. and I ski w/ a beacon in bounds on big pow days, but the level of bombing does give me a higher level of confidence the whole slope isn't going to slide ala the above video. Cosmiques would be like a supasized Granite or Central on top of Granite if we are trying to find comparables. Both easily accessible, awesome in their own ways, not controlled and you should have a clue.

Highway to Heaven - sadly ironic. A relatively easy to access variant of Stairway to Heaven which comes in higher and is accessed from Col des Gentianes. It had already avalanches higher up with a victim a couple of days back.

175cm in the last 7 days with wind. Look at all the layers. Possibly that specific line/trigger point hasn’t been skied this season as only now the rocks are covered. But it propagated very wide. Pretty much the whole face went right down to the Mont Gele grand journée exit where the video was taken from. It seems the guy who triggered it was found (deceased) with avi pack engaged under 2m of snow. They don’t know if there are others (without Transceivers) under there…
