Did a quick late afternoon ski tour in the Val d'Hérémence.
Spring temps, but got in a few good turns on the northerly aspects above 2000 m.
Mostly faceted snow.... nice now, but will be a bad base, if there is some new snow coming at some point.

I spent a day in AK babysitting some Australian to ski boring terrain because we didn't have a lead guide and a full group, so spending a lot of money to do that is a Red Flag for me.
If I didn't have kids, a Job and such things I'd have stopped moaning in January and spent time in Japan. Like I did in 15/16 during my sabbatical. When the early season sucked as well.

In short: it's never been that bad.
Medium elevation Areas between 1000 and 2000m only have 135cm (54 freedom units) of snowfall (on average...of course snowier regions and others are averaged out) instead of 320cm (128 freedom units)
Edit: another real fun fact from the report: the average snow level at those stations is 85cm. Now it's 15!!!!

Aaand: long term sees some more snow for the Rest of the alps.

The stay stoked folks are forecasting 42 cm for Andermatt but only 20 cm for Disentis. Less for Klosters/Davos and St. Moritz.
Nothing forecast past Tuesday?
i see a ton forecasted from the stay stoked folks for usre but it does seem to come in hot and then just stop after tuesday/wednesday. i think their algo is well overcooked but something is coming. question is this a start to a better looking forecast or is truly a 1 and done situation
Next weekend seems to become the focal point fir serious change. Not yet sure whether it will snow a lot but we will get out of the high pressure trap.
Some Model runs are quite encouraging.
My son is headed to CH on Monday. He debated pulling the plug, but decided he'll probably enjoy the trip still.
I am seeing that too. I am flying to Geneva as of now (pending canceling) wednesday night and may chase south to lower piemonte and catch the tail end of that storm but then.....that is the question. there seems to be hope in the latest runs but will that hope vanish tomorrow....i need to see a trend of a model sticking for more than 1 run. i am tempted to cancel but riding over there is always fun...unless its dust on crust...then....Quote:
