It's like the perfect place to celebrate a special occasion when you want to feel fancy and don't really care too much about the price tag. I've had objectively much better meals in Salt Lake that cost 1/4 as much, but in a far worse setting.
Also their cocktails suck.

We went for valentine's day, was a pretty awesome place to be with the amount of snow that was up mill creek in mid feb (still fresh, not gross/springy). I feel like the experience was way more memorable than the meal. If you do go bring a DD, quite the ordeal to get an uber out of there at 10PM.
The meal wasn't "bad" by any means, but agree with tgapp there are places that are cheaper with better food in the city.

I'm hoping he tackles Ramen next so SOMEONE can confirm besides me that Kobe ramen is good but not great, ha. If not I think he will do Ban Mi sandwiches, also a great idea.
Randomly, the breakfast burritos at Skillets Food Truck across from Sweet lake are fucking great. But I'm a sucker for tater tots in breakfast burritos when they are nice and crispy. It's $12 but it's a big burrito.
Does anyone know ANY good restaurants between SLC and Farmington? Bonus points if they are right off i15. All I know is El Cabrito at the edge of SLC, which specializes in goat and has massive portions. I wouldn't get the tacos, and none of it is gourmet but the burritos, chicken mole, and enchiladas are all great for the price.
Garage on beck and santo taco, those are definitely SLC side.
nothing on yelp stands out as "oh i heard about that place", you're kind of in chain restaurant hell up there.

I ate there yesterday, thanks. Not authentic but the caramelized pork is a great Asian fusion version of the Banh Mi. It was very hard to walk past the Afghan Market to try your suggestion but it was worth it. I'll put this in my SLC sandwich rotation. Any other good Banh Mis you eat there?Quote:

Tried El Fino yesterday, generally a fan though I forgot to load up on toppings before walking out with takeout. Seemed about on par with the trucks on State & 800s (tdr/toro tacos)?. Will try a burrito or quesadilla next.
I haven’t had Oh Mai in like a decade, but was my first intro into bahn mi and it’s still my favorite in my mind. Maybe I’ll never go back so I don’t ruin it. Haha

I used to eat at Oh Mai a lot - like twice a week for a couple of years. While I do think that they can make some slappin' good banh mi, they can also be pretty inconsistent. It's not always that amazing. Convenience and price, 10/10. Quality - variable.
