I'll see you guys tomorrow, or tuesday at the latest. :)
powderhouse at dawn. i'll be wearing some pants and a jacket and i'll most likely have ski boots on. good chance i'll have some skiis too. noaa sensors show 8" already at alpine base (6,900') and it doesn't even look like the green blob has totally pushed over the crest yet.
though it probably won't even make it over and we'll all be fucked anyway.
Still stuck here in the East, but flying back tonight and can hopefully get up to the 'Weed mid-week...possibly Wednesday. Just checked the KW website audio report....Lookin good :)
6:30 in Truckee. Another 7" here since I swept the deck last night. Alpine reporting 12-15". Still snowing. FKNA!!!!
Time to get dressed, hit Wild Cherries and park where I want.
See you bitches!
Better still, NOAA -- without any economic incentive to distort -- is reporting 15" at Alpine Base as of 5am.Quote:

Accuweather's hour-by-hour forecast for Truckee is predicting precipitation through noon, then clouds with a little action. Tuesday night into Wednesday, more precipitation rolls in, along with winds.
This afternoon and tomorrow should be fantabulous. My kids will whine about Wednesday, but it'll be worth it.
Radar makes it look like its gonna be finishing soon.
  :fm: (cause if its stops it might stop the wind)
2 f'in Feet!! @ Kirkwood??? In literally a couple hours?
Talk about a whilrwind of weather in the last two weeks.
Geeeeeeeeeeeeettttttttttttt Suuuuuuuuuuuuuuummmmmmmmmm!
I'm stuck in Illinios for some family time with the inlaws...Shugs is planning to hijack a CalTrans truck to ride today, I'm crossing my fingers that he gets there.
Time to get dressed and go dig the car out. looks like a little over at foot on the stairs.
I like this statement.....Here is my JONG cut and paste from the special weather statement:
Quote:
ADDITIONAL PACIFIC STORMS ARE EXPECTED TO REACH THE SIERRA AND WESTERN NEVADA ON DECEMBER 30TH...AND JANUARY 2ND. LONG RANGE MODELS INDICATE THIS MOIST AND FAST MOVING PATTERN MAY NOT BREAK UNTIL AFTER THE FIRST WEEK OF JANUARY. EACH OF THESE STORMS HAS THE POTENTIAL TO PRODUCE SIGNIFICANT PRECIPITATION AMOUNTS AND STRONG WINDS.
:yourock: :FIREdevil :FIREdevil
FUCK YEAH! Two feet, only moderate winds, chain controls, continued snow this morning, it is a monday.Quote:

See you biatches up there.
I'm callin in sick.
2-3 feet overnight! Damn...I love the K effect. The best part is that there's only 20-25 people in line at 6 right now. It's like you bastards are going to have it all to yourselves. Git sum.
Edit: Ooops. Sorry guys. It would appear there's a bit more than 25 people in line now. I still hate you though. Especially Punani since he called to gloat.
I will be at Squaw tomorrow. I'm in Vegas right now visiting family and we're not supposed to fly back until wednesday, but I'm driving!!!
snowed all day at squaw today. they were reporting 10 inches but there was some serious loading and drifting. headwall spun from about 11:30 ro 3. it was really really good. fast buttery skiing. not even that heavy. c2 bowl was holding some really good lines and smooth run outs, despite the wind and partial white out from time to time.
in the morning they were bombing the shit out of granite and spinning the chair, but it seems they never got it open. it will be really good up there tomarrow.
i needed today, i feel like a new basom.
hot tub and cham-pag-ne time.
I know your game, you rouge...Quote:

never seen so much slide activity at the wood. there was absolutely no bond between the base and the new snow. I was thinking with the warm temps yesterday the base would soften up and the storm would blow in warm and you would get wet on wet, but it didn't happen.
Oh, and BTW, there was no where near 3 feet. 18" was about average with some gullies containing 2 feet. anyone who says differently is full of it. ;)
I'm at an internet cafe somewhere along highway 5. It's gonna rule tomorrow.
soooo glad I pushed the move abck a week to try and make some money:tdo13: :nonono2:
See you day after tomorrow, bitches.

just go ski mt. rose, 8thousand is the base lodge.
the wood came thru today. got the second chair on 6. some lines were more wind-affected than others. some NE lines had accumulation nearly as deep as my pole--no lie; some gullies that are usually super-deep were barely 6 inches on top of crust.

Freshies,
I think it is ok for you to post in the thread again. ;)
Fun making turns with you today. See you at AM tomorrow.
Good day at Alpine. Ran into Stormday right off; we waited about 45 min for Roundhouse to open and then hit about 18" of heavy fresh snow. I skied like a Texan, but started to figure it out.
Ran into Freshies on his Kahunas and headed to Scotts. One run to never slides and then we lost Freshies...or more accurately, we saw him throwing big ass GS turns toward who knows where. Stormday hung back w/ my gaper ass and we proceeded to hit the woods skiers left of the chair ramp.
Stormday went to do parent duty and I stayed there for a few more runs and then saw Stormday and Onehotchili and Mrs. Chili at the lodge. Apple and water then up to Summit and hit the D's for several laps. Whiteout started about 2 and me and my gimpy knee headed down. Good day. Might see you guys tomorrow.
As I'm tying this this my wife asked me what my board name is. I told her and she said its disgusting and that I'm an asshole. Oh well.
Today was a great day for the season opener! Powderhouse did not disappoint and served up lots of sheltered powder in the trees. :fmicon:
Special thanks to gimpy and friend for punching in the skintrack.
I got there at 8:30am and had first tracks all over the East Bowl: it was nice sweet light powder. Not Sierra Cement at all. And empty with virtually no lift line. I took one run on the Rose side at about 10am and it as not as nice as the East Bowl.
Chutes opened at noon and I hit El Cap which was very hard with thin coverage; that gate was soon closed and a wise move by the ski patro: I thought I was on landscaping duty in there with boulders, baby trees and stumps, blocks of ice the size of child. Beehive, Hornet's Nest, and Nightmare gates were very nice: a bit crusty up top but after a few turns it was powder.
Long live this thread :D

Yeah...I was a bit disappointed in the snow...I was pissed that we huffed it all the way to Kirkwood and skipped the sunny Chutes opening day at Rose....until they opened up the backside that is....the snow back there was fantastic and the wife had her best "powder" experience to date.....so proud of the bitch....she finally "got it" and was really hauling ass!!Quote:

Looks like I'll be playing hooky after this next storm on Thursday...not sure if I'll go to Rose or the Wood though....may have to get my inaugural Chutes fix !!
Sierra was just awful yesterday... and nobody should ever go there.
(heh heh heh heh.....)

How long a hike to get that terrain?
If you are in shape it’s an hour hike, if you’re fat and out of shape like me count on 1.5hrs.Quote:

BOO-FUCKING-YAAAAAAA!
Yesterday was good. Wind effected, but fast and smooth up top, heavy down low. Saw irul and stormday, made some turns with them, then got all jacked up when I saw that Chute that Seldom Slides was fresh, and had to have it, lost the boys in my frenzy on that one. Sessioned that a few more times, then home.
Today was sublime: 6" or so of new snow overnight that was cold smoke and fun to ski, vis was bad, so we skied D7 several times where it was $ then down into Wolverine: ran laps on that all morning, sooo schmoove. Then hit Alpine Bowl and Scott to finish the day and get out before all the gapers clog 89.
Storms stacked up in the Pacific: gonna dump Wed and Fri/Sat and again on Mon. I don't strt the new gig until 1/10, so am session'ing the fresh for the nex 2 weeks. Bring it Ullr!
Hope to see ya'll out on the hill this week. Shoot me an email if anyone will be at Alpine and we will ride. Peace.
