I was going to mold some new DD tour wraps in these. And then figured I’d never get in and out of them. Kind of hate they put rubber dots on the bottom that make racer style more difficult.

Can’t really imagine getting into the boot with the tour wrap already in there. Can you???
I was able to get into the MV tour wrap with it in the boot, but just barely

I molded the MV tour wraps with them in the shells, wasn't harder than any other molding job
I’m talking about regular on/offQuote:

I have tour tongue liners in lv and mv
Bummed tour wrap lv’s got delayed and aren’t arriving in time
I’m going to the ship now to suss things out

Long story short
Ended up with MV tour wraps in my Boots
Twenty six size liner for same size boot
Heated entire in oven prior to molding
Wasn’t that bad pressure wise
Glad my bootfitter had the confidence and experience to go this way
Tried MV tour tongues and they didn’t feel like they had enough foam at abd above ankle to address my concerns

No problem.
Liner out of oven
Footbed in liner
Foot in liner
Then foot and liner into boot
Went in pretty easily, surprisingly

High speed double ejection. Boa was loose and I’m guessing caught on something (branch, rock, ski tip??) My smith shields also exploded and lost arms and nose piece. Pretty comical actually.
I’m waiting on a new cable now from Dynafit
Unfortunately pictures are not coming through. How long is the wait for the new cable?
oh man
Had first day on snow with a good 3k vert day here in the Dolomites with my new intuition liners on the boots
My ridge pros with intuition MV tour wraps seems to have solved my main concerns about the boot with respect to skiing capability
The stock liner was too thin to hold my ankle
ROM seemed ok, if reduced somewhat, with the tour wrap liner but now the boot skis so much better for me
My previous AT boot was a Dynafit Mercury which skied great for me but was not the best fit
Took a decade off from touring so
Just coming back to it now, hence the new bout purchase

My fit issues in the heel seem to have been resolved by returning a low-profile insole, and slightly grinding down the boot board. Coming from a Quattro and F-one LT combo, the extra width in forefoot was a very welcome. Although I wouldn’t call this a “wide” boot by any measure.
After a handful of long touring days on this boot, I think I’m sold. The combination of the Hoji-Lock with very workable ROM is definitely the highlight here. Transitions are simple and easy (something I loved about the F-One LT and was frequently annoyed with in the Quattro). Once I figured out the proper tension for the velcro strap, I could easily switch between walking and skiing by flipping the buckle and the Hoji lever, no micro-adjustments needed. Personally, I dig the BOA for on-the-fly adjustments to the pressure on my forefoot. And I’d be lying if I said the sliding tongue doesn’t do its job really well, but damn it is complicated, and takes up a lot of volume over the forefoot, which isn’t ideal for me, but I’ve been able to make it work by aggressively molding my liner. I rarely bring the boa tighter than just taking up the slack in the cable. If you struggle to get heel hold in touring boots, the Ridge is definitely worth looking in to.
My primary touring ski is a One Eighty Four Raven, and I think that’s an ideal ski for this kind of boot. I think that the Ridge Pro could for sure drive a more aggressive ski than the Raven, but it has a fairly upright stance, and I think skiers who really want to lean into the boot will be disappointed. The flex is actually a bit softer than a lot of the media surrounding the boot initially led me to believe. I’m a medium plus sized dude at five eleven and one ninety pounds, and I generally carry a pretty substantial backpack, and I don’t think I’d be happy with the non-pro, softer version of the Ridge. That said, the flex feels progressive enough for me, and supports me when I need a little help. Coming from the F-One LT, the lack of walk mode slop, and increased support is a game changer in bad snow or when I really need to apply some power to the skis. The Quattro skis a bit better than the Ridge, but for a backcountry only boot, the sacrifice in performance is worth for the increased simplicity and efficiency.
The weak point for me on this boot is for sure the Velcro strap. It does its job well, I haven’t had it slip yet. But I am not a fan of how quickly Velcro looses its holding power. I’ve been keeping my eye out for a potential replacement. I’ve heard the powerstrap from a Hoji Free swaps onto the Ridge fairly easily. I’m also intrigued by the Dalbello Strap that’s in the High Route Dynafit Ridge article poster recently. Anybody else have recommendations for a wide strap that could integrate well?

Additionally, I’m pretty excited about the tongueless Blacklight boot that is rumored for next season. https://sgbonline.com/pressrelease/d...speed-binding/ Just a wee bit more ROM and volume over the foot would be a winner for me, even if it comes with a slight compromise in ski performance. It also looks like the cuff buckle gets dropped in favor of a booster-style strap, which could further enhance simplicity.

I Might try his five mm cork heel wedge to effect increased forward lean as I think that’s an issue for me as well
Much more upright than my old Dynafit Mercury

The heel wedge might help your position and balance, but doesn't change what most people want when they want more forward lean, which is the angle of the cuff relative to flat. Spoilers can change the forward lean because when tightened, the front of the cuff will be pushed forward a bit.
They have a 2* ramp so heel lifts feel good if you are used to more. With the Hoji spoiler + a normal spoiler you actually get quite significant forward lean if anyone is interested.
Also can dynafit just redo the old hoji with his internal last? Thanks
Attachment 512005 Has anyone had any issues with this boot? I lost a screw holding the ankle strap, got a replacement, then lost the other screw today. Both times when it was fully open and skinning uphill. I feel like I have to check all the screws and add loctite.

I was surprised by all the screws on the boot. Plan is to add vibratite to all this summer
Well, that didn’t last long. A bit over half the season and the ss Moz (boa) cable has failed on one of the boots. I will contact dynafit on Monday.
Finally got my groove back
Heel lift and larger alpine boot spoilers helped to get me forward enough to ski my skis like I used to with my Metcury’s

Seems only way I can reply is with Tapatalk which at least for me is very awkward to navigate the forums.
Anyways Dynafit replaced theMoz systems on both boots. They replaced the tongues too although I didn’t notice any issues with them.
I have used the small spoiler that came with the boots but may try a bigger alpine one next year.

Has anyone had success punching the shell? After a full season touring with this boot, it has become a one-boot quiver. I did have a few hot spots from the low instep that was resolved by swapping out the stock liner for a Palau liner and cooking it. Only after some long warm spring days do I feel that the midfoot shell is too narrow and needs a punch. The heel pocket for me is medium with a little give but the ankle strap combined with the boa really locks it down in ski mode. Aside from losing some screws, everything has held up so far.

Weird I can only reply on my phone if I quote a post which I have deleted.
Anyways I also am in need of a mid foot punch so if you learn anything please post
Punching the midfoot is easy in my experience, just unscrew the cable and get after it.
Also Hoji seems to be skiing these with a midfoot buckle instead of the boa.
Good to know! I’ll have the shop that I bought them from do it for me eventually. I actually think the boa keep things snug but the ankle buckle does most of the work keeping the heel secure.Quote:

I am also in between 27 and 28. I have a weird foot that only feels locked in a Vulcan with zipfits and 1/4 foodboard spacer. I have the 27 Vulcans punched for length and cranky bunions. Can the ridge be agresivly punched for length if I go with 27?
I’m going to say no, but also you need to try them on. Dynafit internal length is variable between the models
Anyone have a pair of 26s that they are looking to move on from? Im interested in checking these out but the online prices aren’t great at the moment

I do, they were skied about three times. Though they are modified with a booster strap - that's intigrated with the hoji lock. I also added a Dalbello Lupo HD cuff buckle on the top - the adjustments made the flex super smooth off the top, but I couldn't get over the space in my forefoot. Drop me a PM and I'll send you some pics.
Great - pm’d you my cell #

I tried the Ridge very briefly when it first came out. Maybe I had the velcro strap too tight or something (I can have a tendency to overtighten boots) but I found the Hoji lock mechanism quite hard to push down, and needed to use two hands to do it and it seemed very awkward. Also, it seemed borderline if it allowed the strap to be loose enough to allow full cuff range of motion when open. To people who have much more experience with the boot, what's your experience with these possible issues?</p>

Regarding closing the hoji lock having your lower leg at the correct angle so the hoji lock isn’t pulling your leg to that angle as it closes I found helpful. The boots are a bit of a dynafiddle to adjust and took me a bit to get right. They do ski wonderfully
I also loosen the top bucket and the strap when I use the lock to go into ski mode.
Otherwise it's too hard and if I'm in a precarious position, dangerous.
Like on top of a couloir where it's very steep and you can't top out.

That's kind of how I felt, that transitioning in a precarious spot would feel sketchy. But I only used them for two tours and didn't really get them dialed at all.. They had too much volume in the heel and ankle for me (I'm considering trying them again with the new Zip Fit Espresso liners which would hopefully mitigate that issue..)
I would think loosening the velcro strap to close the Hoji Lock would make it very difficult to get the velcro strap tight enough to adequately close the cuff of the boot, it obviously negates one of the selling points of the boots. Getting your lower leg at the proper angle to close the Hoji Lock is a good tip.
