infer? that is the case that they are making unapologetically.
Send the F35s and F16s. A few hundred JDAMs will solve everything! No need to understand your neighbor. Nor work with them to solve their problems. Continue the failed cycle of violence.
Cry again some time in the next ten years after the next terror attack. I'm tired of crying.
The question was what alternatives are there to negotiations (with Hamas) or genocide. Hamas doesn’t have any interest in making peace with Israel. Hamas is dedicated to Islamic fundamentalism, and to Israel’s destruction. If Palestinians in Gaza want peace they have to do something about Hamas. The Israeli ground campaign in Gaza could weaken Hamas’s control of the population. Israel might also be able to lessen Hamas’s influence if other Palestinians rise up to administer the Gaza Strip.
I think a full scale ground invasion is a bad idea but since it looks Israel is going to go ahead anyway they need a strategy for dealing with Hamas if they don't want to govern Gaza under occupation themselves. (They shouldn't, and they don't want to)
It’s so simple even a caveman could do it
Very few mentions of Egypt in this recent news cycle. Thank you, Jimmy Carter.
Most recent that I can find:

This was just a giant, savage pogrom. There shouldn’t be any confusion about that. And this thread should go to polyass
Holy fuck did they bomb Gaza.
Whole city blocks demolished.
These hamas asshats are like Yellowstone tourists.
Don’t fuck with something way stronger than you.
Sadly. There’s a whole new generation of anger coming on. Not to mention other countries that will raise new angry generations. Fubar.

the god damn plane has crashed into the mountain.
Some happy news. 25 yr old chic organizes defense and ambushes 25 terrorists attacking her Kibbutz.

That's not really useful is it? There's always some author ready to explain why the opposition can't be negotiated with, and must be destroyed along with anyone nearby. Surely there's a similar article about the hardliners controlling Israel's government. Supported by most Israelis. Likely some of them claim Israel's divine right to all the land (or some other exclusive non-negotiable bullshit). Can't be negotiated with.
Founding documents can be amended or discarded. Organizations change or yield to other organizations. Heck, they can keep their non-negotiable bullshit and choose other priorities.
Hate to break it to you but Gaza is already under Israeli occupation - at least according to the UN & US State Dept.
And did you know that close to 60% of Gazans support Hamas? With support highest among the young.
So if we are talking about options that ain’t gonna happen, you missed an obvious one - Iran and Israel make peace, and Hamas loses its funding.
Are you new to this thread? Everything you mentioned was already discussed.Your statistics were cited several times in this thread. The UN & US State Dept also say Hamas has de facto control of Gaza. Israel disengaged from Gaza in 2005 by withdrawing Israeli settlers and troops.
And days before the Hamas massacre it looked like a pro-change government was forming in Israel to oust Netanyah. Netanyahu’s strategy is well-known, even if it’s never explicitly stated – to keep Hamas as a key player in the dispute with Israel in order to undercut the Palestinian Authority in Ramallah. Why? Because with Hamas there’s no talk about a negotiated solution to the conflict.

Oh, bless your little bleeding heart. You REALLY don't understand the enemy here, do you? There is no negotiating with Hamas any more. They've tried that... multiple times. Hamas and many a Jihadi have quite literally said repeatedly they won't be happy until not just the utter destruction of Israel occurs, BUT the complete eradication of every Jew worldwide.
These assholes are quite openly genocidal. They're not hiding it. They're downright screaming it at the top of their lungs. Their attitudes exceed even the ideals laid out in Mein Kampf.
Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. When you're in a combat zone during an escalating situation, how about NOT shooting fireworks at police of the opposing force, eh? After seeing the video of brainwashed Gazan children mercilessly bullying the kidnapped little Israeli boy, my sympathies for such things has sadly waned. These kids are full of hatred. Make no mistake. And don't make any excuses either. We are dealing with EVIL here. Straight up.
Again, watch this in case you missed it. WTF is wrong with people?! To turn KIDS into these little monsters? WTF?! :(

The Ukraine thread has been a useful news and analysis feed, and it contained some thoughts from the collective about how to avoid having the thread go off the rails.
I have many Israeli friends, mostly Jewish, one of whom I’ve known for two decades…his son in law was killed by a random rocket years ago during a time of relative peace. And through this circle of friends I have connections to Palestinian Arabs. Over beers in Tel Aviv or a small town less than 10 miles from Gaza I’ve heard so much of the history, and the complications and frustrations and missed opportunities, it just gets overwhelming.
This forum has never had an anti-Semitic vibe to it IME. I guess what I’m saying gently to some here is maybe invest less energy into ‘proving’ that another mag is deeply anti Semitic when in fact the thoughts they are posting are similar to those of many US friends with deep and long attachments to Israel, their years spent in Kibbutz etc.
As multi verse so concisely stated, there’s long been a concern among my my Israeli friends that Bibi’s disingenuous strategy of keeping Hamas as the voice of Palestine would backfire eventually. At the same time, over the years I’ve seen very progressive jews in Israel get burnt out trying to participate in the numerous peace collaboration social movements that seemed to flower for a while but in recent years withered. It’s been 3+ yrs since I’ve been there, I’m hardly positioning myself as an expert. It’s heartbreaking to watch this.
What I'd like to know is what are people in AMERICA doing celebrating the recent massacre? WTF?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o2Uw3iPzxbs
"From the River to the Sea" they chant and have signs saying. This is disturbing to see. The support for the attack on civilians was celebrated in multiple places around the world. NOT cool!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iqp6ofgiwYI
Don't get me wrong. People are absolutely free to be pro-Palestine and have a right to free speech, BUT these are rallies specifically in support of the Hamas massacre of civilians. THIS is the goal. Have your little rallies any other time of the year, but to do them in sync in response to the raping of women, murdering of children and the elderly, etc? They are not exactly hiding the ball here. They better be adding ALL these assholes to the terrorist watchlist. Prolly why so many of them hiding behind their little jihadi head scarves. Goddam disgusting anti-Semitic cowards.
Surprised the White Nationalists aren’t adapting pro Palestine positions openly yet (which is hilarious, because they hate brown people, and certainly Islam. )
Gonna be some cognitive dissonance on display in 3…2…1…
There’s plenty of cognitive dissonance to go around.
It’s on both sides. Sadly. And not whataboutism
It’s more than that. Power hungry sociopathic politicians make me lose faith in humanity.
Average people just want the best life they can have for their family. No matter the location and circumstance.
Up until an hour or so ago Hezbollah rockets & shelling were mostly symbolic, mostly striking empty fields. Now it appears Hezbollah is entering the war. Aerial alerts in northern Israel are crazy. Numerous reports of drones and paragliders crossing the border.
Israeli air raid alerts. The IDF requests that the residents of the north stay in protected areas for fear of rocket fire into the area. The IDF estimates that the aircraft were not supposed to enter deep into Israeli territory, and attempts are now being made to locate them.

Maybe people are projecting, or reading into things. Or maybe I just need to be more explicit.
I think I’ve been pretty clear that Hamas is a terrorist organization, they shouldn’t be trusted, and they will never be a suitable partner for peace talks.
When he won’t admit that they killed civilians, or that he knew about the plan, I believe that’s 100% bullshit. The article is a condemnation of him.
The real question is who do you think gave those kids some fireworks and encouraged them to go shoot them at the soldiers? What was their intent? It is almost like their goal was to to intentionally escalate.
It is clear the terrorists sent those kids to die. It is sick and horrible. It's like suicide by cop except someone else got them to do it with the goal to cause more death!
This isn't surprising as they have done similar before. They start indoctrination to be martyrs in elementary school. It is a sick and doomed culture.
Seriously. This clip of Ismail Haniyeh (Hamas leader) pointing at the news report on the TV and celebrating the attack is kind of proof that he DOES know what's going on. One thing Hamas and Isis have always been proficient at is playing the bleeding hearts like a fiddle. Some among here are proof enough of that.

Me: "Hamas is running around raping and pillaging"
Them: "WeLL wE doN'T REaLLy kNoW ThaT foR SurE! ThaT laDy prollY crapPd heR Pantz lol"
"HamAs leadErS diDn'T EveN knoW."
The willful blindness is astounding. Are people seriously that easily duped by these barbarians? Seeing some of the reactions, or the extreme tolerance of others, makes me realize how Hitler made so much advancement in the 30's. I had always wondered how the people who stood by quietly could be like that back then. Now we know. Apparently we've learned nothing.
