Yea I was one of those transplants too for 30 years. The nice thing about the Salt Lake area is there are a whole lot of us transplants that you and your pajama loving brothers are trying to legislate into submission that helps make it a much more welcoming place to be. I bet its scary to see other opinions and values being slowly come into play.

My daily interactions with tribe members are very limited, but the legislative session is an exercise in frustration every year.

Yeah fuck them. The Mormons are pretty much a mob organization that is legally not responsible for taxes. Well put - fucking racist homophobes illegally make 32 fucking billion dollars and they get fined a measly 5 million. Yet another unsolvable global crisis under the guise of “religion”. I grew up protestant and believeing, I got stoned in college and had an epiphany about how many wars were started in the name of religion and have been agnostic/athiest ever since. Living in Utah the last 13 years has opened my eyes to the secret society/bullshit that the church believes.

The better three-quarters and I were recently talking about how to reduce our taxes through a small business of some sort. Starting a church seems quite a bit easier with a much lower burden of proof.

Much like most of the larger businesses in this state, the LDS Church is nothing more than a multi level marketing scheme. They just have deeper pockets, better attorneys and a hell of a PR department. However, I think most religious organizations and many non profits should be paying their fair share of taxes.

Speaking of new developments with problems... Up the hill from where we are, the area of some rather new houses, in a still expanding development at the foot of the Wasatch right near Adams Canyon in Layton/Kaysville, got flooded out when an under-street drainage pipe I guess exceeded capacity and turned into a mid-street gusher. There's some disagreement now about whether the city or developers are responsible for paying to fix everything.
