opinions wanted. i have two options for my new 102s - install a dynaduke plate and have swap compatibility with my dukes that are on my cd2s. seems like it will be a lot of extra weight but it will cost me $0, already have a second set of plates. OR, shell out $300-400 for a proper dynafit touring binding. something compatible with my old but lightly used garmont megarides. suggestions for compatibility would be appreciated as well.Quote:

Started laying out my mounts last night. Found rusty screws on my px18 on the heel i ripped out of my old skis last season. REI boned the mount and tried to hide it. Didn't even use glue in the inserts and probably why they pulled out/ruined the skis.
Thinking p18s on the countdown and px18s on the showdowns though the brake width on each work better flipped. Any harm in cleaning these screws up and reusing? Or should I try to source new ones? They're the mega long rear px screws.
Mounting my own fucking skis forever now.

Screws are fine. Surface rust. Pick your rust cleaner and give em a scrub
And check before you mount -- I believe the PX18 is the racing heel, not the regular PX/SPX heel. It's a different template.
Those big boards look sick.
And Senecas! Don't see those too often. Did you buy them in Bzn?
Thanks for reminding me. Planning on checking the template on a 2x4 before mounting to make sure i got the PX template. I looked and checked it was the px/racing template but still want to be sure since you cant really see through the rear heel holes.Quote:

Yeah i just did some quick comparisons. My favorite shape in terms of predictability is the XXL. If i pair that shape down to a similar width its VERY close to the SD 202. Why did i never notice that before? So 122-102-109 for the LD for touring sounds pretty perfect. Don't know why i am/was so fixated on the 130> Tip.Quote:

The 202 showdowns say to pull 890mm from tail. This is a full 4cm back from the line on both skis which seems waaaay more off than I expected. The boot also seems very forward in the camber of the ski. Like a monster amount of tail.

I talked to SiSt yesterday, hoping he'd advice me not to buy any more skis that I won't get to ski much. Last season brought me the 202s, this season brings me the CD114 Bimboes version. Fuuuuuuck. Finally have something useful to put my kickstarter gen Cast/916s on, though, so all is well. Review coming in three months or so.
89 is the way to go, at least on my last year's models. Not a chance in hell I'd be going further back.Quote:

TD 105 is a slightly shorter slightly more playful k108 186.
Phenomenal in bumps. Tail releases easily. Quick edge to edge. Easy to ride switch, easy to spin, even for someone bad at it. Wife noticed I was riding a lot more switch than usual.
And you can still rail/drive the tips on firm snow.
Really excellent and well balanced ski. Riding it more tomorrow, I hope.

Heh. Mine haven't chipped, but I did sand down the top edges as I do with every new pair of skis I get. Some slicing has occured, though.
Haven't bought a sub 190 ski since my B-Squads (which definitely were burly enough), so pretty interested in finding out how the FWT style skis work out. I suspect they'll outski me. Your CD114s are the 196s, correct?
(for reference, I'm 5'9", 200lbs, ski like shit, but like to go fast - the skis have to smooth out the kinks from my lack of technique)
Correct. They actually feel almost stiffer than the showdowns in the living room flex test. Interested in how they ski once we get some more snow. I haven't bought a sub 195 ski in 4 years. Watching the guys I was skiing with yesterday easily maneuver in the refrozen junk at Baker yesterday made me a bit envious until I got to open them up later in the day. They will definitely take you for a ride if you don't focus on driving them where you want. Learned that quick. If you really power into them they just go.Quote:
