Be careful if you head out today

Above 8000', avalanche danger will rise to HIGH today on wind loaded NW through SE aspects steeper than 30 degrees. Below 8000', expect wet snow avalanche activity today in open areas steeper than 35 degrees where rain is saturating the snowpack

According to NOAA snow levels are coming down below the lake tonight. In my experience that means motherfuckin blowaaaaaa at the wood and it'll be sitting on a foot or two of rock covering mank.:)

Spats

2.5" of rain at Blue Canyon and no chain control on I-80. That would be a high snow level.

The Cohee-phone says Chair 6 won't open until the weekend...tomorrow will be 5 and 11.

On Friday I'll be in the value pass pickup line at Mt. Rose. Maybe I'll get to ski a little.

The NWS forcast was dead on. Snow level looks to be about 8000' today:

Alpine, Heavenly, Rose, Borreal, Northstar, Kirkwood
Where are you going?

I have a flight to catch so KW is out.
I think Heavenly will be best of all due to previous snowmaking and the current storm.

Rose does have the highest base elevation and will get the most out of the storm but Heavenly has a better head start.

The other resorts will have few lifts open and nothing amazing in my opinion.

What do you think for Friday?

Yup, typical tahoe storm.

although i bet it will be that creamy springy stuff up on top, I doubt it will be true blower.

Pouring going over Luther pass this morning at 9am. At the very top it was almost snow, but not quite, so i bet the 8000 foot snow level was dead on, that snow level is just what kirkwood needs to cover up some of those shark teeth, so that AKA, shoe and 666 have clean take offs for their opening weekend 40+ footers.

Just started POURING here in Folsom so looks like that precip that WSD said was in Half Moon Bay and that Creeker said was in Davis is getting closer....it is definitely warmer down here than it's been the past few days however.

anyway, yeah....let's cover up those rocks with some mank.

And Senor Spatulator....I think you have one too many 0's in your huck height prediction above. Actually in my case, keep that '0', but lose the '4' ;)

So you aren't going to huck??? I'll believe it when I see it. I believe that everyday you skied last year (including both pre and post surgery) you left the ground at least once. ;)

flying NKO, flying Iggy, guy is totally out of control and ONCE just ONCE i lose control and he won't let me forget about it.

Then again, I am not sure I want any part of 'Oops proper' this time of year, we'll have to see.

I am gonna show up @ Rose.

I will be there first thing in the am for 9AM lift opening. It may suck? Magnum 6 may not open till later, might not open at all due to high wind? OR I might get first tracks down Northwest. Look for me. Black & Yellow jacket Black Mt Hardware hat. Bright Orange skis. If they are not open I will be hangin @ the bar
