that's just plain stupid. lots of awesome jobs will care how you dress for an interview. It says very little about the workplace environment.
Good news. Glad it worked out, but I still stand by my dickie recommendation.
I've never been impressed by men's wearhouse. then again, i'm kind of a suit snob now that i've spent more than 5 minutes researching them.. ah, bespoke... i have a really hard time watching Bond movies now without studying the suits...
If you are looking for Nice suits, etc. please check out www.virtualclotheshorse.com
The owner does a great job, he helped me out quite a bit with a suit purchase a few years back. I would highly recommend his website if you need any men's dressy clothing. huge discounts on excellent high end clothing.
a nice wool/silk suit will look 100 times better than a crappy nylon/poly suit.
i love living on the west coast.
cut and fabric cannot be faked. Some styles never go out, so unless you have to have those super wide lapels, or double breasted when they're in style, you can buy one or two great suits and a blue sportscoat and call it a day for 20 years, unless you cant control your weight. An endorsement for local clothiers is that most will offer free alterations for as long as you own the garment.
this weekend we attended the funeral of my wife's grandmother and both of her brothers could not be bothered to change out of their jeans. I overheard a 13 year old girl tell her friends that they had "no respect". Mouths of babes.
