no big fohen in verb on the weekend. hot but not terribly hot, so something skiable beteween attelas and almost riunettes (say 2200)
Looking at the webcams it looks like everything above 2000m stays pretty decent. Below 2000m (verbier & La tzoumaz) it's looking all green&brown again.
Dit you make any pictures this weekend?

luckily we have a very stable base layer of "rocks" and extended snowpack analysis confirmed our initial assessment that the totally sick low angle pow next to the piste was good to go.

It better fuckin' snow soon over here.
:cussing: :cussing: :cussing:
hmmmm we have zee foehn here in France too. The Mistral blows in the opposite direction, from north to south down the Rhone valley. We have some other winds, Lombard is the most common which is due to a low over the Med bringing moisture laden winds in over Italy - generally results in big conditions right on the border but nothing a few km futher west.
The Americans would better know the foehn as Chinook - which is the native American word for "snow eater". Nuff said.
I"m Praying for Northern Italy to get some damn snow. whats with this season?
northern italy: nothing so far and nothing in sight
western airflow will bring some moisture. where, how much and exactly when is not yet certain.(and if there will be an italy low or not), but cham and the west sould see something for sure.
Looks like the alps, especially between Verbier and Zermatt, are gonna get a major dump next week.

SNOOOOW MUTHAFUKKER SNOOOOW!!!
cmon, austria needs some love too :(
I ended up not bringing skis at all, but rather rent some. Which turned out to be the right decision. No fresh snow, but some decent piste skiing on the glacier. Actually on saturday they stopped the lifts because of 100 km/h winds. So I got only one day of skiing down. But it was the first turns of the season, so I guess I can't complain too much. What was not so good was that I got an instant pain in my lower back. Probably because I haven't worked out much this fall, an that Im in pretty bad shape. Hopefully some more turns will make it all better...:rolleyes2
hey, turns are better than no turns!
i got mine in on saturday at g3000. felt good to get in some first turns.
and yes, stoke is rising...

mmmmmhhh... half a meter for snow-forecast = 25 cm in reality. Not bad, though
